The pesemist in me always says never....wouldn't manufacturers fit them at point of build. Looking at his feedback though he has lots of happy customers. I know the feedbacks are not neccessarily legit but I'm usually the one that gives in buys it and then thinks what a prat. Not many negatives though. Guess that's what ebay sellers count on. What have you got to lose.....apart from money. Do you think if you brought one and it worked, do you think anyone would believe you? p.s he's making a right wedge out of it so good luck to him. I have found a guaranteed method of reducing fuel consumption - don't put your right foot down so hard! :lol: No, seriously. I read this article a while back about you driving style and how it affects MPG. It's all based on looking ahead while driving, carrying speed through corners, getting in one gear higher than normal for a certain bend (let the torque do the work) and pressing the clutch pedal/going into neutral when coasting/down any hill/slowing down. Pulling away from a roundabout/lights/junction? accelerate slower - you WILL catch the car in front up again. Give 2nd gear a miss (don't hang too long in first) and go into third, etc. I have been doing this for a few months now and am saving about Quote

I've had my Gal for a week now and had to re-fill her after a paltry 318 miles! (24 mpg - not good). I've realised this is mostly because I've been driving a puney 1.4 Pug for the last 5 years and have got used to a 'pedal-to-the-metal' style of driving just to get anywhere. I'm 50 miles into the next tank and the needles has just moved a couple of points now I'm amployeing some of the tactics mentioned above. However, is it better to brake with the car in neatral or use engine breaking as well as the break pedal? I was under the impression that 'modern' cars use no fuel when engine breaking, but I could be wrong. Quote

Its better to brake using engine breaking....3 reasons for this. 1: Less wear on your breaks pads....mine have 50,000 miles on them and they weren't new when I got the Gal.2: Breaking is more controlled.....and you have the option to accelerate again.3: Much Much Much less likely to plough into the vehicle in front when your overheated brakes die. There should be no difference in fuel consumption if your foot is of the accelerator either way. Quote
