greg_68 Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 I wonder if these things work......no I really do wonder :( . The pesemist in me always says never....wouldn't manufacturers fit them at point of build. Looking at his feedback though he has lots of happy customers. I know the feedbacks are not neccessarily legit but I'm usually the one that gives in buys it and then thinks what a prat. Not many negatives though. Guess that's what ebay sellers count on. What have you got to lose.....apart from money. Do you think if you brought one and it worked, do you think anyone would believe you? p.s he's making a right wedge out of it so good luck to him. Look how many he sells per month. Quote
wonkydog Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 Load of rubbish! I have found a guaranteed method of reducing fuel consumption - don't put your right foot down so hard! No, seriously. I read this article a while back about you driving style and how it affects MPG. It's all based on looking ahead while driving, carrying speed through corners, getting in one gear higher than normal for a certain bend (let the torque do the work) and pressing the clutch pedal/going into neutral when coasting/down any hill/slowing down. Pulling away from a roundabout/lights/junction? accelerate slower - you WILL catch the car in front up again. Give 2nd gear a miss (don't hang too long in first) and go into third, etc. I have been doing this for a few months now and am saving about Quote
delboyt Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 if you actually look at the guys feedback it's nothing to do with the fuel saver it's for the prompt posting as his pot say's it takes a couple of months for you to see the change in the amount of fuel you will be usingi don't believe it myself but i do with i have the idea first lolas said on this thread don't put your foot down so hard & you will save money Quote
Guest MATT jr Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 lmao! Reduces fuel consumption - but, at the same time, increases power - where does an engines power come from? its fuel!? he may as well try sell me a flying carpet really! MJR Quote
big_kev Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 I cant believe that people are stupid enough to buy worthless junk like that. Obviously they must be ! Quote
MadBaz Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 These devices were tested on motoring show a couple of years ago, again they said why don't mfr's fit as standard, results were inconclusive. Quote
NikNak Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 Tell you what Firefly........... you buy one, try it out for a couple of months and then report back here. And if it's any good...... you never know you might even be able to sell some to others here. On the other hand, if it is a pile of pooh, your friends & relatives might be getting toy fishing rods with magnets on the end of the lines to catch the toy fish with washers glued on for Xmas..... :o Nick A topic to discuss over diner........ if muslims want to wear the veil, would it be ok for Jack Straw to conduct his parliamentary surgeries through his letter box..? Quote
ashypd51 Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 i thought this was a galaxy forum............... and not a political forum...!whats the correlation between veils, jack straw and the ford galaxy ? Quote
NikNak Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 ashypd51.................... you are absolutely spot on 1 this is the Galaxy forum 2 this is not a political forum as for the correlation between the 3......... mmmhh, not to sure that i actually intended there to be one, but has made for very interesting debates around our diner table. With that in mind i will repost the possibly offending item in the Debating forum........ Nick Quote
ashypd51 Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 hi nik thnx for the reply , no offence taken, but just hoping to keep the forum 'politically neutral' and herefore preserve its integrity, and belive me , as a member of the muslim community this is a politically charged isssue. its also made many interesting conversations around our dinner table too, some membersl of my family for , and others against the issue!i value free speech and the right to express oneself, but it has to be in a context.didnt want to see a free for all in the customising section, should make intersting reading in the debationg section though :D kind regrds....... ashy Quote
davey1825 Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 here's another thought who says that the magnetic properties of this fuel saving device will not interfere with the ecu and other delicate electrical components, i agree with a previous post, don't put your foot down as hard!!! Quote
Assa Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 Hi Guys, Sorry for resurrecting an old topic, but it's the first one I've found on the topic of fuel consumption. I've had my Gal for a week now and had to re-fill her after a paltry 318 miles! (24 mpg - not good). I've realised this is mostly because I've been driving a puney 1.4 Pug for the last 5 years and have got used to a 'pedal-to-the-metal' style of driving just to get anywhere. I'm 50 miles into the next tank and the needles has just moved a couple of points now I'm amployeing some of the tactics mentioned above. However, is it better to brake with the car in neatral or use engine breaking as well as the break pedal? I was under the impression that 'modern' cars use no fuel when engine breaking, but I could be wrong. Quote
raymac Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 (edited) Depending on your annual mileage it might be worth considering an lpg conversion  or get a diesel :( Edited May 11, 2007 by raymac Quote
big_kev Posted May 11, 2007 Report Posted May 11, 2007 However, is it better to brake with the car in neatral or use engine breaking as well as the break pedal? I was under the impression that 'modern' cars use no fuel when engine breaking, but I could be wrong. Its better to brake using engine breaking....3 reasons for this. 1: Less wear on your breaks pads....mine have 50,000 miles on them and they weren't new when I got the Gal.2: Breaking is more controlled.....and you have the option to accelerate again.3: Much Much Much less likely to plough into the vehicle in front when your overheated brakes die. There should be no difference in fuel consumption if your foot is of the accelerator either way. Quote
johnswlondon Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 if these really worked the manufacturers would fit them Quote
