  1. Hello When I had a mondeo and the battery went I found the best price offered was from Vauxhall Masterfit. All the shops like halfords were quoting about
  2. Good Afternoon, Found this on Ebay:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-FORD-GALAXY-ELEC...1QQcmdZViewItem Regards
  3. Hello I totally agree with Bigjeeze. My Galaxy has been misting up badly when using the fresh air vents. The aircon clears it but I did not want to use the air con all the time. I hoovered the leaves and debris out from under the scuttle panels, cleared the drain holes(left and right wheel arches) and changed the pollen filter. The pollen filter was manky.Guess what? it has made a hell of a difference. My complaint with ford would be, why make a service item a bugger to change? Never bored with a ford.
  4. Andy UK8, What year is your Galaxy?
  5. Hello Tried a brand new key no joy. It looks like the car is at fault. Any ideas please? Where is the remote central locking sensor on a 2001 Galaxy? Many Thanks.
  6. Can ford test transponder keys to see if they are transmitting? Will they charge for it?
  7. I presume the transponder in the key is not working correctly?
  8. Everything works down to stage no.7. At no.8 my key fob LED fashes five times not the door lock light LED on the door. Stage no.9 does state that "after a remote transmitter has successfully programmed, the GEM will reset the programming mode allowing a further 15 seconds to program next transmitter" . The door LED does not come to allow this. I have measured the 2 batteries (I did think there was only one but there was 2)in the key fob which does have 2 batteries and 1 measures 2.9v and the other is 2.97v. Any ideas?
  9. Hello, My cruise control is not working. I did find the pipe to the vacuum pump perished at both ends so I did replace it but no joy, cruise control still does not work. I believe there is no fuse that only powers the cruise control because I would have noticed other things not working. I have looked at the handbook and there appears to be no relay for the cruise control. I suppose it would be worth trying to see if the pump powers up, any ideas how I could do this? If I am correct, to activate cruise control you must be doing at least 30mph, feet not touching clutch or brakes and press the set button in to activate the cc (as described in handbook). Could someone give a quick description of how cruise control works on the Galaxy. I have read there are servos involved in the system Regards
  10. Hello, Cheers Insider Today I took the car to garage to sort out the remote key because all it did was open the car with the key. It would not start the engine or remotely operate the central locking. The guy at the garage reprogrammed the key and it now starts the engine but could not do anything with the remote locking. I have searched the forums and I have been using the key in the lock, unlock 3 times, 0.5 seconds each turn method. Do you have to start with the car locked or unlocked and I am trying to do it via the drivers door. Am I missing something? Could my remote be up the spout?
  11. Hello My remote key will open doors and start engine but will not lock/unlock doors remotely. The led on the remote flashes and I have tried to reprogram as described. I have a 2001(Y) Galaxy 2.3 ghia face lift Mk2. How many batteries are supposed to be in the remote? mine has only 1. I presume they should be CR2016. The handbook is not helpful.
  12. Update, Looks like I have short in the drivers door. I gave it a wriggle and the rears are working but no sound from drivers door. I bet one of the wires has snapped. Thanks for your replies.
  13. Tried CC no joy. Any ideas?
  14. when you fade to the front there is some sound out of the front dash tweeter but if fade fully to rear there is no sound at all.
  15. I have wriggled the boots no difference. It is strange the front tweeter is the loudest and then the volume decreases as you go to front door speaker, then rear door speaker and then the rear boot speaker, no volume,If you alter the balance to full right and turn up the volume there is a lot of distortion.
  16. But would this effect all the right speakers, qty 4?
  17. Hello, My Galaxy 01(Y) 2.3 Ghia has a few faults which I am working through and one of them is loss of sound, right hand channel on my head unit. I believe there is no amp so I am thinking it could be the head unit. There is some sound from the right hand speakers (Tweeter, door speakers and rear) but no way as loud as left channel. I presume all the right speakers are fed of different outputs from the head unit. Any ideas? Are the head units difficult to remove as the ford handbook has no gen on removal? Cheers
  18. Did not look forward to removing the headlamp so I thought I should have a quick look through the headlamp access panel in the wheel arch with a torch and mirror to see where the vacuum pump was, Hey presto, perished pipe!. I managed to remove the pipe through the access panel and it had a few splits in it. I just need to find some replacement pipe. Many thanks, brilliant website. When I have put the new pipe in I will give the cruise control a bash. Cheers!!!
  19. Are they easy to get to?
  20. Many thanks for lightning reply, looks like it will be a Saturday job pulling out the headlamp. Is the headlamp only held in by one screw as stated in the forum?
  21. Hello, My cruise control does not work as advertised in the handbook. I have read the forums and I am trying to use it correctly without any joy. As mentioned in the forums I have checked the fuse so I will check the hose on the vacuum pump is not split. This is my question is the pump and hose definately behind the grill on the facelift model (Mk2) or is behind the passenger headlight. I cannot see the pump behind the grill. Many thanks.
  22. Many thanks. The reason I ask is that I have been told by Ford that they have to use their machine to program and there is no other way to do it. I just don't want to be ripped off for no reason if there is a an alternative way to do it. Regards
  23. Hello, I have just brought a 2.3 Y 2001 Ford Galaxy after my Kia Sedona blew its engine after water got into the engine. I was given two keys, one was a remote locking key and this is the one has the problem. It will open the doors (central locking) if you use the key but the remote will not open the doors (central locking). Also the remote locking key will not start the engine. The other key is just a an ordinary key that works perfect (doors and engine). Anybody got any advice, does ford need to reprogram the key?
