1.9 TDI 115 AUY engine 190k. EGR blocked off. Intake and EGR valve cleaned. Been having limp mode issues for a while. Did have sticking vanes. Turbo stripped and cleaned. VNT now free. MAP and MAF sensors replaced. Tested for boost leaks. Only slow gradual loss from 2 bar as expected. Vacuum pipes either side of N75 valve holding vacuum. N75 also replaced. Actuator has full range of movement by vacuum. Limp mode is triggered by asking for moderate acceleration around 2000-2500rpm. Light throttle through that rev range doesn't trigger. Full throttle above 2500rpm or below 2000ish doesn't trigger. Turbo shaft has very slight play. I'm thinking turbo just knackered but then it works well above 2500. Still getting 45mpg. Any suggestions appreciated.

I think the 6 speed box was for the diesel engines only. Apart from compatibility, I think you would find the gear ratio's completely wrong for a petrol engine. Diesels have all their torque low down in the rev range where as petrol engines are the opposite. I would hazard a guess that if you had managed to fit the box, your car would not be drivable because of the low rpm low torque of a petrol engine.

Get your wheels balanced. A wheel may have thrown a weight. If that doesn't work get your tracking checked.

Hi folks, Had a drivers door lock problem for a while since the really cold weather started. Something broke in the lock barrel mechanism after a few icy unlocks allowing the barrel to turn right round and then providing no locking/unlocking function. So today swapped the passenger and drivers side door handles successfully. Now I can turn the drivers door lock to unlock and lock all the doors except the drivers side. Now I cannot open the drivers door. I have read that the deadlocks may be electrically operated. Suggesting that a broken wire in the door boot may be preventing the deadlocks from being deactivated. Could someone please confirm if the deadlocks are operated in this way and a broken wire may be at fault. Also, has anyone managed to remove a door card from a closed and locked door without destroying the card. I have searched the forum and the net for a fix to this particular problem with no luck so if anyone has any advice to sort it I would be very grateful. Many thanks in advance.

Anyone Used Vegatable Oil In There Tdi?
mrchipz replied to jamesey's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
The Gal tdi will run on veggie oil! But for how long before the pump and bits pack up? Think you might find it cheaper in the long run to use diesel. -

Glad you got it sorted! -
I had exactly the same problem with mine. I got around it by adjusting the catch on the door pillar that the door closes to. Mine was quite warn. Just slacken off the torx bolts and move the catch about 1mm or so further into the car and re tighten. You may have to adjust a few times to get the thing to work right. I got mine fixed so persevere.

I would suggest getting the car hooked up to VAG-COM and see what that shows up. Do a search and see if you can find somebody near you. Your quite welcome to use mine if you live near Grantham. -

According to Diesel Bobs website http://www.dieselbob.co.uk/tips.shtml BLUE SMOKE from exhaust - Causes: Engine is burning engine oil, injection timing is incorrectly set. or even worse under common faults VW TDI ENGINES - drastic power loss, causes: injection pump internal collapse or air flow meter fault. Lets hope for your sake its only the air flow meter. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. -

Was this via the trip computer or your own calculations? With mine at 80-85mph and no one else in I get about 35mpg. I've tested my trip computer and its about bang on. If yours is correct then there might be something a miss with mine. -

How do you drive the old Gal? These engines where designed to be thrashed up and down autobahns. They don't like being driven lightly for too long. There is a chance it could be being suffocated. You mention smoke when accelarating. When theres smoke, theres usually not enough air to burn the fuel correctly (There goes your mpgs as well). Maybe the air intake is getting clogged. Take the thick air pipe off the egr (the egr valve is bolted to the intake manifold) and stick your finger in hole and gently feel around for soot build up. Have a rag handy! If you have a large build up it will be suffocating your engine. Your intake will need removing and cleaning, manifold and egr. I try to redline my tdi at least once a trip to keep the air flowing. Even with my egr disabled. This might not be the cause of your problems but it is easy and free to check. If the engine can breathe ok then it could be injectors or injector timing. Try and get hold of someone with vag com software for this one. Hope this helps. -
If you can find out if its definitely your injectors, have a look at http://www.dieselbob.co.uk/orderinjectors_ford.asp Diesel Bob has fully re con units for

Hi folks. YES, YES AND YES! I got the booster heater working! Pre soaked the bolts in WD-40 a couple of days ago. Got the unit removed from the car without any hick ups. Thats when the problems started though. Most of the bolts on the unit where heavily corroded. Decided to remove the unit altogether so clamped and disconnected coolant hoses. This made life a lot easier getting the rest done. Then found a broken wire. Thanks must go to my dad here for his assistance in getting those problem bolts undone. There where a couple of times where I was ready for giving up at this point. Anyway, got them undone and changed the glow plug. Put it all back together and fixed the broken wire. I know the wire may have been the only fault but I had the new glow plug anyway so in it went. Bridged the sensor wires under the wiper arms to fool it into thinking it was cold. Fingers crossed, started the engine. After a couple of failed starts the heater struck up. Burnt my finger on the units exhaust. Silly me. So after about 5 hours, most of which was spent undoing problem bolts, a result. If it can be done on my 11 year old Gal then it can be done on any TDI Gal. Anyway. Thanks to all you guys and gals that run this site. Without you lot I wouldn't have even known there was a heater there. LOL You all deserve medals. THANK YOU!
