Whats the general cause of a high tickover on a 115 pd tdi and whats the cure. The fuel economy is pants right now and the problem is intermittent but happening more often. Thanks DFH4NP :lol:

Had to get the wife to take it to the dealers today, both doors had broken wires which have now been repaired, They have recomended changing the wiring looms in the door if it happens again. Cost

Had a coolant warning come up today and the gauge started going from cold to very hot after I went round a big roundabout, checked the coolant and it was just above the min level?(Will Top Up To Full Tommorow), switched the car off and on again and after a few minutes noticed that the passenger side rear electric window would not work. Checked all the fuses at the drivers footwell no problems there, removed the switch and checked that it worked the front windows ok when connected. Oh and the drivers side rear window has not worked for the last 6 months, again I checked the switch and its fine. Its a 2001 facelifted sharan Carat, has anyone experienced this problem before or know of any hidden fuses that i should look for. Best Wishes DFH4NP

Gentlemen, Had the Sharan in at the stealers last week and they coded a new remote key, It works the central locking ok and the car starts but it switches off within a second of it starting? Any Idea's whats wrong? Thanks DFH4NP B)

Had a similar problem, the wipers stopped working alltogether, took it in to the dealers, linkages had seized alltogether and in the process had screwed the wiper motor :

Its been going wonky all week, now its not working at all. Also : Neither of the two front heated seats are working The drivers side passenger window does not work Neither of the 2 12v outlets are working in the boot The only thing I have done recently is to change the two front H7 bulbs with osram silver stars last weekend a one of the H7's had blown. I checked under the drivers seat for wetness but its dry, there are no fuses under there only some cables and a couple of connectors. Any Help or pointers would be appreciated, Its a X reg facelifted sharan. DFH4NP :o

Does anyone know how to remove the headlight unit to change the dipped beam bulb on a 2001 sharan I have removed 2 screws on the top of the unit that had plastic covers on them, this has loosened the unit but it wont come out any further. Any help would be much appreciated. DFH4NP

Just noticed that my front wipers are going slow and are stopping at the wrong part of the screen, turning the ignition on and off seems to cure it for a short time then they go funny again. Anyone experienced this before, and whats the approx cost to repair / replace. Thanks DFH4NP

Got a 2000 x facelifted sharan, Due to go for its MOT on saturday morning, The bulb warning light on the dash has been coming on recently so with the MOT in mind went searching. What i found was that there was no bulb in the offside fog light holder(Drivers side fine), Even when putting a working bulb in it would not work as its corroded with a white coating. Also the lens cover for these 2 bulbs has an inch of water in it. Questions : Will it fail an MOT if both fog lights dont work? How do you remove the lens cover? What would cause water to accumulate in this cover? Any help would be appreciated. DFH4NP :D

Wife took it into the vw stealer today who advised to disconnect the plug at the heater, took 5 minutes as it was a bit ackward and sealed the ends with electrical tape. They didn't even look at it and quoted

In the last 2 days my Sharan(2000 115pd) has started the aircraft noise and is expelling excessive amounts of white smoke, this is the first time this has happened and it does not seem right. We were stopped by the police today who think the vehicle has an emissions problem and did not seem interested in that its just the way these are. I am with you Jeff, does anyone know how to disable this either by fuse pulling or is if possible via a vagcom. Many thanks dfh4np :rolleyes:

Bought a vag-com cable and have the laptop ready but cannot find the port to connect the laptop, some previous posts say its at the ashtray but i cant find it. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers <_< dfh4np

Thanks for your reply, just been outside and tried it, it worked with the 2 original remotes and not the new one, this just constantly flashes at stage 5/6 when the other ones didn't and it didn't flash 5 times at the end either My cars a 2001(facelifted) model sharan and the remote came from a 2001 golf, The remotes look the same but maybe they are for different vw alarm systems. A bit of a long shot but would anyone know if there are differences or is a trip to the stealer the only option now. Sorry to but in lads, I never knew these vehicles had extra heaters, Was this an extra as I have a 2001 sharan 115pd carat and I dont think I have one of these heaters and cant remember seeing it on the spec list or options list. Many thanks Derek hughes :huh:
