Thanks for the reply. I asked the question because I was thinking of swopping the fronts with the backs. I know that the valves on the wheels are special in that they have some sort of sensor, but didn't know whether the technology was clever enough to work out if a wheel had been moved.

Galaxy 2.0 Tdci Ghia '57 Plate, Jan 2008
Whizkid replied to Whizkid's topic in Cars and auto related items.
Thanks for the comments. That's the starting price and everything is open to negotiation. I'm familiar with the DtheD price, but you try getting hold of one of these at the moment - very short supply. I think the options do make a difference - perhaps not a great deal, but the 17" alloys make it look visually very good plus the options the bars & cover are probably the most popular add-ons. Sunblinds are good for the family with children. Sat next to std 2007.75 model I think this looks better & may just swing a sale. Service not required until 12.5k so I thought there was not a need to mention it. We'll have to wait & see :-) -

I think I understand how TPMS works (individual sender on each wheel) but does anyone know whether each one is configured front L & R and rear L & R , or does the system work this out for itself ? When the time comes to change the fronts, I was thinking about putting the new tyres on the rears and moving the rears to the front. Any thoughts or experiences of this ?

Load Protection Net - Anyone Got One?
Whizkid replied to vpeter915's topic in Questions about the New MKIII
I think what you are describing sounds more like a dog guard - a mesh that mounts behind the 2nd row of seats. The load retention net is as previously descibed, an elasticated net which holds items to the floor, so in the event of heavy braking stops them moving forward in the vehicle. -
Galaxy 2.0 Tdci Ghia '57 Plate, Jan 2008

I'm able to buy my cars on Ford Privilege, so I usually sell them on after 9 months. I've the opportunity to purchase a S-Max Titanium 2.0 TDCi at a really nice price in Sept so I am selling this one. Its a really nice vehicle - I've had no problems with it whatsoever. Whoever becomes the second owner will be extremely pleased. I don't like trading my vehicles in because I think the dealers end up making too much out of vehicles that really need nothing doing to them. This one comes with a warranty to 2011 and is virtually brand new - its still got the brand new smell. It was built in Sept 2007, so the car itself is less than a year old. -
Hi all Selling my '57 plate 2.0 TDCi Ghia. Registered Jan 2008. Comes in Stardust Silver, with the following options .... 17" 10 spoke alloys Tyre Pressure Monitor System Convers+ Tonneau Cover Roof bars Sunblinds Its currently covered 9400 mls - 90% motorway. The trip computer reads an average 47mpg, but my own calculations put this closer to 43-44mpg. No dings, dents or scratches. The car has only been driven by me. The third row seats have never been used, and the second row seats have only been used occasionally. No dogs or kids in the family, and I really do take car of my cars. The car is available from 1st September 2008 onwards, so plenty of time to plan a purchase. Its not advertised anywhere else at the moment. I will probably put it on ebay & Autotrader towards the end of August. No pics at the moment - the recent bad weather means I have not been able to wash it, but I can send some on request once I have done so. If you want to have a look at it, or have any questions, just contact me. Car is available to view in Poole, Dorset (evenings/weekends) or Southampton \daytime). John

I would agree with the other posters - its normal. I had it on my 1.8 TDCi and now my 2.0TDCi. You just get use to it.

I'd be suprised if they would be worried. Galaxy's are in such short supply, they would have theirs hands ripped off. You can see how long people are having to wait in this thread. As the vehicle has been built, it will have a VIN, so the dealer should be able to register it in March to retain any discounts on offer. Once into April, you run the risk of it being repriced - thats my experience anyway. As for reps - you get the good ones and the bad ones. Once you find a good one - stick with them. It pays in the long run. I always give my rep 2/3 bottles of wine after I've picked the car up. Nothings too much trouble if I then have a problem !

I've got a 2.0 TDCi Ghia with 17" alloys, TPMS, Convers+, roof bars & tonneau cover. I previously had a 1.8TDCi, with panoramic roof, power flip rear quarters & climate seats. Both purchased from dealer stock. If I were ordering from the factory, I'd have the 17" alloys (now std), panoramic roof, climate seats (or at the very least heated seats for those cold mornings 'cause the heating takes so long to get going !), bluetooth, and Convers+ (because its different). The 2.0TDCi is fine for me - its not a sports car and it would be wasted on me. I'm told the adaptive cruise is good, but haven't had the oppotunity to try it out.

1.8tdci Mpg Computer Reading And Calculated Figures
Whizkid replied to bluefluffybunny's topic in MKIII Technical section
Hi - I had a 1.8TDCi and was getting similar readings. Took it to the dealer who told me they reset the PCM, but it made no difference. I read somewhere that there is a resistor (card ?) that needs to be replaced. I have changed to a 2.0TDCi and the readings are more accurate now. -
Hi I'm in the fortunate position of having purchased a number of new vehicles. Some on factory order, some direct from factory stock. In my experience & especially with the Galaxy the dealers under estimate the delivery times. I ordered a new Galaxy back in November, and was eventually given a build date of 31 Jan, which then moved to 6 Feb. Whilst all of this was going on, I kept an eye on various dealer sites, and spotted one in stock for immediate delivery so snapped it up. I don't know happened because I cancelled the original order, but I do know that the dealer took the options off the order and left it as a std build. My advice in the current climate would be to contact a number of dealers - especially those with a large dealer network (eg Dagenham Motors) and ask them what vehicles they have in stock. You will find that some dealers 'hide' vehicles as being sold that prevents other dealers seeing them as 'available' and buying them in for customers. You may have to compromise on options, but you may end up with close to what you want. The other option is to ask a dealer to amend an existing order, which may help with the delivery date. The downside of this is that if you then load the vehicle with lots of goodies it could work the other way as the additional items will probably add delay into the scheduling of the vehicle. To give you an example of this, I spotted a 2.3 Galaxy Ghia Auto available for sale at Hendy's in Southampton, so they are out there, and I have seen 3x 2.0TDCis Ghia's available in the last month or so - one of those I have - so they are out there ! Also just seen a couple of 1.8/2.0 TDCi S-Max's and Mondeos being advertised at Ford Main Dealers in the last 5 mins ! Happy hunting !

Hi - I believe its a Ford/Peugeot collaboration - built at Dagenham. I believe its in the current 407

Hi - I had a 1.8TDCi, and on reflection the engine was fine. I used it mainly on motorways and it was a joy. I had the problem with the dual mass flywheel which the dealer sorted out, and it also had the latest software load which cured the problem with engine surge in 1st gear. Mine was one of the first builds (June 06), but I now have a 2007.75MY, (2.0 TDCi) which itself is fine. I would have no problem purchasing a 1.8TDCi in 2007.75 spec. In fact I had one on order before I saw the one I now have in dealer stock.

Hi - yes it has been discontinued. I picked up my new Galaxy a couple of weeks ago, and was talking with the salesman about his previous customers who had just ordered a new Galaxy. They wanted Blue Ambition, but he could not factory order it for them as it had been discontinued. In the end they had to purchase a vehicle from dealer stock - and apparently there were only 2 in the country - both 1.8TDCi & with Ghia X packs. If you want a blue Galaxy, I noticed Archers of Ashby had 2.0TDCi Ghia in Ink Blue in stock a couple of days ago. Std spec.

The dealer was Evans Halshaw in Poole. Its also going in the S-Max & apparently the order book is open on them. There is a lot of discussion on this over on the S-Max owners forum

New Owner - Steering Alignment/gear Selection/rough Running
Whizkid replied to Whizkid's topic in MKIII Technical section
Hi all - since I made the original post I have been on quite a journey (not literally) with this vehicle. The noise problem was the flywheel. The dealer admitted to me that there is a problem with these with the Galaxy, usually early builds. It sometimes takes a couple of changes to get it right !! They think its down to driving style, but I do not know how they make that relationship !! In addition to the noise, another sympton is vibration around 2000rpm. The reverse gear problem - the fix apparently is a complete new gear linkage. Had mine down a week or so ago, and its good so far. -
Hello all. Joined about 6 weeks ago before ordering my Galaxy. Now an owner of a Sea Grey Mk3 1.8 TDCi Ghia/6 speed with Panoramic roof/Climate seats/power flip windows. I have had the car for 2 weeks. Its my second Galaxy - my first was a Mk1 2.3 GLX (98/R). Its a totally different vehicle & very pleased with it ........... except 1. The steering wheel is out of alignment - straight ahead sters the car to the left. Been into Ford 3 times and still not right. Amazes me how I spend so much times explaning the problem & they never listen or understand your concerns !!! I'm gonna call them tomorrow and if they can't get it sorted I'm calling the Ford Customer Relationship Centre. They HAVE to take notice then ! 2. On occasions, I have reversed the car, and put into first to move away ......... it goes backwards ! - reverse gear is still selected ! Anyone else had this ? The dealer has made 2 adjustments (apparently there are 2x TSB's on this). So far so good ! 3. This happened tonight. In first gear, turning left out of a junction, and the car starts to stall, and then makes the most dreadful noise - sounds like a bag of nails. Cannot reverse. Switch the engine off & then on .... fine. Drove (35 miles) home. No problems. Something similar happened to me just after picking the car up. Sitting in the drive, turned the key to start it, and the noise was horrendous. Turned it off and on - no problems. It seems to happen when the engine is being starved of fuel (stalling & starting quickly). I can replicate it by turning the key to the point when it just fires, and then off again. Anyone else experienced these or similar problems ? Cannot find anything on the forum. Would be interested to learn if I am alone with these ? Looking forward to being a member of the site. Whizkid
