  1. I always get my vehicles a/c serviced every 24 months and I experience no problems. Get it done by someone who knows what they're doing as opposed to someone who can use the clean/refil machine. Tyres I use nothing else but Falken 452 on my golf gti and galaxy. Great grip, looks, price, and wear. Check them out at tyre review and camskill.
  2. They are few and far between. I looked for 6 months before I found one searching e-bay and nationally on auto trader before finding the right one, forcing me to buy my first car ever from a garage in 20 years of owning cars (from a Ford dealer as well.) Got the right deal on my old galaxy, they had three in which all sold in one weekend. They are all fitted with 130hp power unit also. The wheels are more robust and larger than the standard 16" ghia rims albeit I might change them for a set of 18" RS4 alloys.
  3. Looking at your photo it seems you have the 17" Ford 5 spoke rims that were standard fit to the Ghia Elegance model, which was a blinged up special edition with leather, media, and wheels that don't pit like the shiny diamond cut rims fitted to the standard ghia spec.
  4. Multimedia option did away with swivel front seats due to wiring. I have leather, multimedia, dual zone climate, 17" 5 spoke alloys (elegance pack)
  5. I don't know if this has been done by anyone or if I'm out of order suggesting it. Here's my idea after searching the forum; It's come to the time for me to replace the cam belt on my 2004 130ps TDi Gal. With price fluctuations with various dealers. I wondered if a section could be started where common problems/servicing could be listed where forum members could list there quotes and compare them with others in order to go back to dealers to enquire about price matching. This would be even more apparent when one dealer from a group quotes a completly different price to another dealer in the same group. Appologies if this has been/being done. So far Ford Bristol Street Stafford branch
  6. What material are the seats? I store my 2 leather seats on my garage wall off brackets about 5 feet off the ground. Air circulation is much beeter than damps under plastic or cloth. Mine are in perfect condition after 18 months.
  7. Do not overlook that the blown fuse may be down to/ aggrevated by the wiper arm spindles getting stiff. This is a common problem caused by water ingress into the spindles under the nut/thread at the bottom of the wiper arms. You will know if they are getting sticky when speed "2"on the wipers are not much or no faster than speed "1". It's a fairly easy fix albeit one better performed in the warmer weather. There are threads on the this forum to assist.
  8. I have a TIS disc but I don't know how to read it. I just seems to have pages about wiring diagrams and recall data. Should it read like a workshop manual?
  9. A bit trivial I know but the gear knob on my 2004 Galaxy has play in it and it really annoys me. I have tried to gently unscrew it but I don't think it's a screw off type and don't want to wreck it. Is there a quick fix as I cannot see how to remove it?
  10. Try using some heat from a blow torch on the bleed nipple to expand the metal. Should come off in addition to the WD40.
  11. I recently purchased a Manual from e-bay for my 2004 tdi galaxy. I received it as a cd romwhich is the Ford TIS. However when I loaded it into my computer it only appears to have a few very hard to read wiring diragrammes on it and nothing wHich i expected a manual to. Have Ibeen sent an incomplete product or am I doing something wrong. Are there several versions?
  12. On my old Galaxy a/c was inoperative when purchased. Aircon engineer noticed that the compressor clutch had come off and was missing. "nd hand clutch from VW Golf fitted and regassed and worked happily ever after for 14 months prior to exchanging for my current Galaxy which touch wood..................................
  13. I have just purchased and fitted these to my galaxy and both appear to work fine. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Infra-Red-Cordless-S...1QQcmdZViewItem In addition I purchased a set of 5meter RCA phono leads with extra insulation from Maplins at
  14. Having read through loads of posts about this topic I need some definative advice prior to spending some money or wrecking my new much loved and 2nd galaxy. I want to fit a tow bar to my 2004 Galaxy Ghia 130 TDi. I have decided for appearance and versitlity that I will spend the extra and go for the detachable version. I understand now through reading several posts that the brackets/bars are relatively simple and fool proof once the bumber is removed, which I believe is quite simple itself. My concern is when fitting the electrics! I have read that the Galaxy has a plug somewhere under and in front of the rear bumper. Does this plug fit perfectly into a dedicated wiring kit like the ones sold at towi  ng equipment outlets, If it does is any other work required? I have read certain threads which indicate thatsomething called a realy bypass must be installed to cure the bulb failure system. Is this necessary when the dedicated kit is fitted or must it be performed in addition to the kit and if so is it a simple and tidy procedure. Also when fitted do I have to go to Ford to have VAG reprogrammed for trailer recognition. Basically I am terrified of saving
  15. If it helps the clutch on my 2000 TDi MK2 was missing when I had my system re gassed. The air con engineer had a second hand one from a TDi Golf which was an exact fit and now works fine.
  16. May I add myself as a victim of this common problem. I went through the thought process of well should I purchase a new motor, just in case and thinking well why you have the mechanism out it will be easier to change the motor. DON'T!!!!! Although having looked/read the post/pics I initially became a bit itimidated especially by the thread who stated it took about three days. I decided to have a go on a friday night (I too have much better things to do on Friday nights to), as I didn't want to get ripped off by the Stealers. I started the job at 17:00hrs, and got stuck in. Now let me tell you that I am no way an engineer or mechanic with fancy tools, but without gloating I had finished and was having tea, half way down a bottle of wine by 20:00 hrs. The job is more simple than it looks, and I had to force one spindle out. I wil add that this is one of those tasks which is easier to do than it seems as you get the jist as dismantle the bits to gain access and remove the linkage. In fact the worst part of the job (in my case is having to remove the sump tray, as I allowed 1 Socket, one washer and the dipstick grommet to fall down the engine bay Damn!!, this can be avoided by not leaving tools/components on the engine when not in use. My wipers now work perfectly with the original motor. This type of job gives you a load of satisfaction because, it can 1. potentially save you a fortune (your money is better in your bank, not theirs) 2. give you the knowledge that you have performed a thorough job 3. employ self confidence in perfroming DIY Good luck and enjoy!
  17. In a nutshell how do I download or view pics posted by members. Whenever I click, I get an error message stating the board will not allow me to do this.
  18. I have just purchased a 2000 MK2 Galaxy and identified that the A/C didn't work. I always use a guy who works from his van who is based in the midlands. I have used him for years and find him to be not just competant but very honest, a rarety in this day and age. He regassed my system which was empty, but the system failed to work. A quick examination prevailed to prove that the clutch wheel on the compressor was missing. Dave Collins of AES located a second hand clutch, returned the following week, and charged me only for the initial gas. He is a qualified A/C engineer and installer with years of experience. He installs unit ambulances etc and therefore travells all over the country. As you are in Oxford I'm sure he would be able to give you a diagnoses and price. His number is 07836 603723. I do not wish to gloat but mine works brilliantly now!!
