Recently purchased a 54 plate 2.3 galaxy , MIL light has just come on i plugged in my cheapo obd2 scanner which showed 1 dtc and gave me N/A as the result. I reset it and it vanished for 100 or so miles and has now returned . im guessing they changed the protocol from the mk1 to the mk2 ? Does anyone know of a handheld reader that works on the mk2 petrols ? also a link if possible please.

it was drivers side ty for the pics :)

Where is the vin plate location on a mk 2 galaxy ? im after the colour codes

If you look under the front of the car you will see the lambda sensor bolted onto the front pipe of your exhaust , and The cat is only effective if the lambda sensor is working correctly , so the MOT guy would say CAT . That sensor regulates air / fuel mixture , mine went a year or so ago replaced it with a non ford one and it didnt pass the mot , replaced that with a ford one and it passed easily .
-
Seeing as you are struggling with emissions at MOT time , and starting problems i would get a lambda sensor , emission failures are usually caused by a knackered Lambda on a 2.3 . But still change the plugs or at least check them to see how well they look

Sooooo Cold , 2.3 R plate Galaxy with climate control , (LCD) heaters used to work fine now just cold , ive looked through other threads and most mention matrix problems , not the case with mine both matrix pipes get red hot , so I'm guessing it is electrical / cables or whatever control the flaps . When it was working I could hear the flaps changing position ie switching from Lo / High setting i would hear the flaps change , this no longer happens , still have hot air in the back blowing but I cant drive the car from the back :) Any ideas please ? Is there a relay that controls flaps

Put one on my 2.3 a few months back all is fine :)

Spent a fortune on this old peice of crap, Charged the battery today , put it on tonight turned key all ignition lights on looked fine turned key 1 more click to start the car everything is now dead  im guessing a fuse any one got a quick pointer where to look really need the car on the road by 11am got 0 electrics working at all
-
Well got it through the MOT now after driving it a while got a new error code which is P0402 EGR Excessive Flow Im guessing this is a sensor somewhere on the EGR anyone know more about this plz ?
-
I also had a O2 sensor from ebay , changed that for an original ford sensor due to the error I listed above. So now I have changed plugs, air filter, O2 sensor (again) and a new cat... Now the car has a ton of extra power, so just need to wait now and see if it passes or not Oh and again if anyone does want codes reading im on msn everynight , mcwiggy@hotmail.co.uk

Yeah there is a cat fitted but changing this as iv'e picked up a new one for

Tomorrow I start the trek of cutting my emissions down from 8% to MOT levels <_< From what ive read so far main things are Lambda, Cat, Seconary Air Pump. First thing i did was to get a hold of an error code reader and it came up with 1 DTC P0135 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1, Sensor1) now at first guess I was thinking Lambda sensor, but reading on here about the Secondary air pump circuit allowing the lambda to work has me boggled, so i just guess ill test it when it gets light outside and see what happens And if anyone wants their error codes reading and is in the West Mids area give me a shout on here and ill gladly help :) Ill update this post with what i find tomorrow and if anyone has any suggestions for other bits to check feel free to tell me plz

Just replaced my tensioner, 2 minute job lemme just find the receipt ....
-
recently did a lot of the switches on my mk1, about to do the dash clocks and squeaky belt probs are holding me back , can post some of the switch pics in blue if you need to see how they look
-
Am I right thinking that there is only 1 bolt that holds this on and it is positioned above the pulley ?
-
unfortunatley i can see where its slipping off the tensioner pulley and rubbing against the crankshaft
-
Has anyone got a ford part number for the MK1 2.3 Aux belt tensioner handy plz

6 is better but make sure your gps reciever can work with it, i upgraded from 5 to 6 for my pda and my reciever doesnt support ver 6, and if you buying counterfeit discs why not just dl it for free

Problems With My Gal
Wimb replied to bluenosebryan's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Im guessing that the sensor you found unplugged was the MAF sensor... But anyhow here is a list of checks for you to do. 1. ISV located on top of the throttle body ( Take it off and clean it) then replace it. 2. Check for air leaks... Most obvious locations will be under the bonnet. 3. Replace your Fuel Filter if not done recently. 4. Drive your car with and without the MAF sensor plugged in if you notice any difference don't automatically think that the MAF is faulty like i did ( your first cheap replacement should be the o2 sensor that is bolted to the front pipe of your exhaust) Click Here For the one I used The sensor wire that is on the MAF is also controlled by the o2 sensor, if your'e o2 sensor is faulty this would also explain your thought that you are getting a lack of MPG. The o2 sensor i listed above has wires colour coded exactly as they are on galaxys thatll keep you busy for a few days let us know the results -
might get around to fixing mine now
