I am just starting with a very similar problem. I have a Ghia with the climate control but other than that the clock has been loosing time for weeks (I think it's just got a sticky segment as it does still work but never correct.) Yesterday it needed to provide heat for the first time in a couple of weeks and the fan controlls properly being able to change to all the speeds but am unable t get any heat out of it. Temperature gauge shows the engine water temperature is perfect but no heat out of any of the vents. Can change where the air comes out as per the climate panel perfectly but cold everywhere

I have a 03 53 1.9 115Bhp Ghia and on a run fully laden with climate control running flat out get 49Mpg holding a steady 70 using cruise control. Could probably get more but 49 out of a 2+ tonne van with the airodynamics of a shaped brick will do me. Don't get more that 500 out of a tank normally though as at least half the time on 2 minute town runs with my wife. Still very happy.
