  1. I had a 2 litre Laser, in Paris blue mettalic. I loved that car and would have another one tomorrow. I well remember when I used to park the car and walk away, I would never be able to resist looking back at the handsome lines of it. Though I did used to get a bit pissed off at the dumbarse comments by people who thought it was clever to slag Capri's off. Funny thing was, no body who ever actually owned one has anything but fond memories of them. In fact it was my desire for a 2.8 injection at the time and not being able to have one, that prompted my decision to buy the 2.8 Galaxy that I have now that I have a little more cash.
  2. Almost certainly CV joint, used to have this on a regular basis on the 2 Rover 620's I owned (weak point on those). Usually down to a split gaiter allowing the grease to be washed out.
  3. I found a similiar size plastic T peice in a box of bits at work, and with 3 small pipe clamps its as good as new. (whatever it is?). As a point to note to others, I found the old pipe very difficult to extract from the tubes, and disintegrated when pliers were used to pull them out. Be very careful to ensure all the bits are removed from the pipes (I sucked on them to get all the crud out). You don't really want bits of plastic running round the fuel system!
  4. Have you looked on EBAY? I find there is a lot of stuff for Galaxy's on there, and several people advertising complete cars being broken.
  5. Thanks for the replies. I did ask the vendor the question but never got a reply. I have now ordered a disc from someone else who states that it does cover my car.
  6. No "wood" trim either, or is this only Ghia X too?
  7. Its a great place to go as long as you go with the right attitude, I.E. with the intention of having escapist fun and not allowing yourself to be cynical. My family loved it when we went, and we hope to return later this year. It really is a magical place for kids, and half the enjoyment for me was watching there faces as we wandered round. It does get very busy and so be prepared to queue up for a long time. The more popular rides have a priority ticket system where you can get a ticket and it gives you a time to return, at which point you can walk straight in, so its worth getting a bit organised to avoid the wait. Have fun.
  8. I am considering buying a TIS disc from one of the EBAY vendors, and have noticed that the workshop manual section says that it caters for "Ford Galaxy 2000.75" I'm not sure what this means exactly. Does anybody know if these discs cover my 2000 MK1 v6? Also, are they any good?
  9. My 2000 Ghia (I understand they dropped the "X" bit by then, and just loaded up the Ghia with toys before the new model came out) is fitted with window switches on all doors, plus both fronts on drivers door. It also has dash mounted controls for both rears (middle row), and offside rear quarterlight. (Only the offside opens when fitted with climate control). Hope this makes sense and is of help.
  10. I have experienced a similiar thing with my V6. After doing some work involving battery disconnection, I found the car would start ok but would not tickover. I took it for a run which was quite difficult as the engine stalled at every junction. after about 4 miles I returned home and found the engine was now revving rhythamically from 1000 to about 4000 rpm. I switched off and then restarted the engine and hey presto, perfect tickover and running! I assume that something somewhere in the dark recesses has to "re-learn" its own settings.
  11. I have exactly the same thing broken on my V6, does anybody know what this pipe and T peice is?
  12. Hello all. I finally got round to registering for this great site after several months of Galaxy ownership. I have a 2000 (mk1) 2.8 v6 ghia in silver, with all the bells and whistles, and I am very happy with it. If you find you need to drive a big comfy car but would really like to drive a sports car, then the v6 fits the bill very well. It was a difficult choice at first, but having a go in a friends '03 tdi convinced me I couldn't live with a diesel. I have since had an '06 tdi ghia for a week as a courtesy car and it was much better, but for my mileage, I remain unconvinced. Having a look on this site has saved me a great deal of time and money, all the usual suspects: Cruise control rubber hose perished, Drain holes full of leaves, wiper linkages seized up, and of course air con compressor knackered. Pleased to have found you.
