  1. I've just had exactly the same problem, fortunately it went just outside the local garage. Thanks to all on this forum, they were just about to drop the gearbox and check the clutch when I suggested that it might be a drive shaft problem, lo and behold. Pretty poor on Fords part given that the vehicle has only done 114K SteveH
  2. I had what sounds like a similar problem, had the belt tensioner replaced, bit better, but still there, checked p/s fluid level which was fine. Eventually had the alternator pulley replaced, problem solved, apparently there is some sort of clutch within the pulley that was causing the problem. SteveH I am experiencing similar problems, whenever I turn steering wheel, I can hear that something is not right with steering system - clutch on the alternator is free in one direction and I can't hear this noise if not touching steering wheel. Engine under tray fitted, new drive shaft fitted recently, no leaks around steering system but maybe cam belt is due soon. What is the service interval for cam belt (1.9 TDi, 115ps, 04/2002)? George
