  1. As far as LEDs go you will need to add a 470 ohm resistor so that it wont blow with 12V. To determine the best resistor to use follow this simple formula. start off with the source voltage (in this case it would be 12v) then minus the LED voltage (say 3.6v for example). this would leave us with the number 8.4. now we divide this number by the amperage. generally about 20ma. (so we would divide 8.4 by .02) this leaves us with the number 420. and this is the required ohmage of the resistor you need. just get whatever is closest and away you go.
  2. I tried in vain to get it off, then got a bit bothered as it is the inhibitor switch as well, if it breaks the car won't start.
  3. I can't seem to be able to remove the small bulb unit on the auto shift. I want to get it off so I can solder an LED in there. Cheers
  4. Will a 6000 CD player fit into a 1999 Galaxy, are any other connections needed at all?
  5. This is correct, I have xenons on my new C-Max, when full beam is switched on a mask flips down out of the way in the headlamp housing to give full beam xenons as well as the main beam halogens. When the headlights are not on and you just flash the main beam, only the halogen bulbs flash. They are exceptionally bright when ful beam xenon and halogen are on  :(
  6. Wow, so i'm not the only one this has happened to! I was at the fraud dealer today picking up some scuff plates, while i was there i managed to get hold of the mechanic again, he did say that it was to do with low battery power while starting, basically what Johnb was on about, voltage drop causes the lights to flash. The dealer had rung the factory at Cologne in Germany where it is built and they had stated that it is not a fault and is quite normal. So no worries then. Cheers Ian
  7. Hi, I have just got hold of this new C-Max but i have noticed that when I start the engine the xenon lights do a quick flash. I have shown the dealer who had not experienced this before and they have investigated by telephoning the factory who say that it is not a problem, apparantley something to do with battery power but i'm not so sure. Does anybody else have xenons on their CMax and have they noticed this happening?
  8. I have just traded my Galaxy in for a C-Max 2.0 TDCi yesterday in fact, I must update my information on the side there. I got
  9. Sorry I wasn't clear, the actual locking nut key is missing.
  10. How do I get another? The dealer wants a part number which i don't have.
  11. Servicing is much cheaper on the continent, I had my 10000 ml sevice done at German Ford dealer for the princely sum of
  12. No Prob, I have it on TIS, it can be adjusted up or down until the starter motor works, quite easy to fix i think looking at the diagram. Thanks Ian :(
  13. Thanks for the speedy reply SA, I have TIS and will have a look. As for the car, it's not mine but my dad's and i'm too far away to nip and have a look at it, I suggested that before he starts it, he physically moves the gear lever from P to D then back, would that work until we can get chance to have a proper look at it? Thanks Ian
  14. When I try to start the car form cold, nothing happens, completely dead. If the gear lever is jiggled about a bit in park the thing starts fine. Is there some sort of switch in the auto change lever that is faulty or am I not doing it right? Not used to auto's Help!!
  15. My Dad had just managed to pick up the above mentioned car for 9,995 with 42000 miles, is this a reasonable deal and what major problems might be associated with this vehicle if any? Thanks Ian
  16. I have the IPAQ 1940 with Tomtom Bluetooth, I use the double adaptor that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket. I run 1 wire under the dash, up by the passenger side of the dash then it is pushed in behind the plastic cover, it then goes into the left hand storage box away from prying eyes, the wire is pushed in on the dash in the little groove that is next to the air vent on the dash. The TT gps receiver works absolutley fine in there, I see some people seem to think that the heated screen stops the GPS signals, totally wrong, maybe on inferior GPS units but not the tomtom GPS. As for powering the IPAQ, I modified the cradle because the fuse blew on the circuit board inside, dont know why so i removed the board and fitted the adaptor clip that you use to charge the IPAQ with the Mains 5v adaptor, a bit of dremeling the base of the cradle for a neat fit gave me a 5v power input, I then wired the 2nd 5v power lead to the IPAQ much the same way as the GPS, under the dash then up the side, it works fine and is very neat. I wouls be quite happy to attach some pics but im currently in hospital in the internet cafe.
  17. I have had similar troubles, The alternator light came on when driving off right away on cold mornings, so i gave the wires and plug connected to the alternator a good clean and started letting the engine idle for a few mins in the morning before driving off, this seems to have worked as the warning light has not come on for over 2 months now. I had the car a week when I also got a puncture, the wheel retaining mechanism jammed and that was replaced under warranty. I have also had water leaking in to the well under the passenger seat I have punctured a hole in the grommet under the passenger seat which lets the water run out and also raised the metal bracket that the electric module sits on under the seat, this seems to work quite well for now but by no means a permanent fix. Really good for a
  18. Got a new mirror lens today from the ford dealer, it was
  19. They don't seem to do Ford parts, or are the Alhambra and Sharan mirrors the same as the 2003 galaxy, i thought they were slightly different?
  20. that link doesn't work as it is http secure.
  21. Thanks Nimrod, just waiting for an email from them, any other places you know of??
  22. Had an argument with a toyota people carrier shed whilst on a country road. The guy came right over and smashed my mirror glass, he hit it with some force but came off the worst as his mirror housing was smashed to pieces, in the end the agreement was that we pay for our own damage, rather than getting insurance involved. Is it possible to buy the heated glass as a seperate part because that is all that is damaged. A green scuff was left on the silver housing but that came off easily with a bit of T-CUT. Well at least I now know that the galaxy mirror housing is at the least, very robust.
  23. Fred are you resident in Germany?
  24. When I depress the clutch, I get a creak. I checked it out and it was the the switch going at it, I just pressed it in and out a few times then it was ok. Trouble is it keeps recurring every couple of weeks, I think I will pop a bit of grease on it, see if that stops it.
