hi all, I have a MkI 2.0 Galaxy 132K, starter motor wasn't starting the engine every time so i bought a QX components reconditioned unit at a cost of

hmmm i suppose your right gooner, the handbook says that a 1.1 carb'd and no CAT fiesta does 46 miles to the gal "simulated urban" and a 1.1 CFi Cat'd fiesta only does 40.9 again on "simulated Urban" but that must mean without no turning the engine off and repeated cold starts etc i should think so 35 - 37 mpg isn't too bad like you said!!! Best Regards Big Dave
-
By the way i meant GOONER not GONNER!!!!!!! bad typo!!!
-
hi everyone, My tenner ran out before, gonner by the way you were spot on i had travelled 78 miles on that tenner!!, i normally put

no but the dodgy fella in the council house over the road does though!! (Absolutely no offence to those living in council houses, in fact my parent live in one!!), I have however just quickly unsrewed a spk plg, and yes it confirms that the engine is running richer than a sultans bank account, new lambda here we come........ ;) best regards daves PS, the galaxy just refused to start then outside the house, resulting in the missus' face turning a strange shade of red, cranking without firing, had a idea what it was striaght away, immobiliser not coming off but why i tried it and 2nd time the red door light done it's normal on/off thingy and it started 1st crank ;) but what happened there i wonder ;)

75mile to a tenner, i've just put a tenner in mine now, i'll see what i get out of it and let you's know in a few days, as for the brakes binding, it seems to roll nice n freely so i'm sure that they are alright at least!! best regards dave
-
i fact i think i'm putting more in my fiesta than in my Gal!!!!
-
no kev i don't have a leaky fuel tank!!!, i only do 5.5 mile each way to work and back so it's not long got warm by the time i get there, i do about 65 on the m/way and don't drive "mad" either, i have changed every concievable filter, set the tappets - sounds REALLY quiet as well now, changed the oil and plugs, and yes my tyres at the correct pressure as well! i am convinced the lambda is knackred though so it could be running on open loop which would do this to the MPG i think. Best regards Dave
-
yes that's what i got, i'm suspecting the Lambda sensor has had it to be honest so it's spanners at the ready!!! Cheers Kev PS didn't think it was possible to get that sort of MPG out of an 1100!!, yes i do service it regularly as well!!!

hi, as far as i am aware the secondary air pump only works for about 2mins when the engine is 1st started from cold, it is used to make the exhaust gases hotter on cold start up to make the warm-up time of the Cat quicker. I have known people to take these off altogether (don't ask me why) so i would be surprised if this alone would fail an MOT. Yours Big Daves

Took our little girl to the works kids Xmas do the other day, came out to a flat tyre. Took the loose wheel to a tyre garage (how nasty is it when you need to get the spare wheel off the winch cable and the end bracket will not pivot to allow the bracket to fit through the hole in the middle of the wheel due to rust, done it in the end tho!), and they said that the screw that had punctured the tyre was too close to the wall to be repaired so i needed a new tyre...........aaaaarrrrrgggghhhhh, christmas has cost me enough already!!!!!!!!!! those of you who have seen the piccy of my wheels will know why, they are 225 45/17's so they are wider than the equator!! So replacing it with another conti was out of the question as the missus is bleeding me dry for all sorts of presents for everyone ;) . Got a result in the end though went to a tyre wholesalers that i used to work in back in 1999 as a result of a college placement and cheekily asked if they would sell me one, which they did, ended up with a ??Wanli?? tyre for

What Things Irritate Me About Our Galaxy?
davey1825 replied to davey1825's topic in What thing irritate you about your Galaxy
i know gooner i'm just too nice for my own good sometimes you see, but the foot has come down now and now i am gonna say NO!! especiallly after 9 hours behind the wheel of a bus as well!! -
The thing irritates me about our Galaxy is other people, now we have a Galaxy that means that it's ok for people both freinds and family to ask us to pick a door up from B&Q, take the Darts team to a match (and back), and god knows how many people to the airport and back, the latest trip being a pickup at manchester airport last monday night, it wasn't all bad though as it got me away from the mother-in-law who happened to be down ours that night!! 85 Mile round trip at a cost of a tenner in petrol, was pretty pleased with that actually!!, plus it gave the Gal a chance to stretch it's legs. ;) Also i sold my motorbike after one too many soakings and bought a 1.1 Fiesta on a N plate, nearly the same colour as the Gal funilly enough and i actually achieved the impossible with it (for those technically minded of you) i have actually got the tappets silent so i have a HCS engine that actually purrs nicely (took me three goes though!!) and it only costs me a tenner a week, so i am a happy chappie at the minute :; Best Regards Big Daves

Cam Belt Chnage For Galaxy 2.3 Zetec
davey1825 replied to a topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
the 2.3 Is deffo a chain engine, as for renewal a lot of people say 100,000miles some say more, IIRC ford say it is fitted for the "life" of the engine though (???) Best Regards Big Dave -
Hi all, I need to know the part number for the little black plastic studs that hold on the plastic sides on all of the rear seats (some of you's will know what i mean!), My local Fraud Dealer has absolutley no idea whatsoever what i am talking about so i am at a blank :) Best Regards Big Daves

NikPv, how come you have got speakers behind your rear doors and i haven't???

I take it we are dealing with a mkI then!!, mine flashes twice together with the oil pressure light when i turn on the ignition when cold, i'm can't help thinking that the small red light flashing means that the ECU is trying to tell me of a problem or something!!!!, just a thought!!! :) best regards big daves PS post 4 was not there when i wrote this!!!

davey1825 replied to zorgman's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
don't forget the exhaust is towards the rear of the engine on the endura engine and this will have to be allowed for, would be interesting to see if it was possible though!!!! -
Hi all, Did the Mk I 2.0 Aspen come fitted with a sunroof??, i was told that it never yet mine has a power sunroof which i have a feeling has been fitted after it was made, i seen another galaxy the other day and the sunroof on it was totally different, a lot smaller than mine, I'll take a piccy of it tomorrow to show you's what i mean. Cheers all Big Dave PS, I only found out that the Zafira has 7 seats a few days ago, yes i know they have been out since the reign of King Herod but i have just never been in one or paid any attention to them until a freind bought one last week. PPS, The back 2 seats are sooooooo small, do you think they were designed for transporting your garden Gnomes in comfort???
