Yup! Going to get my wife to take it back in on Friday for it's service and MOT - can't face them again so soon!

Well now my gabber is well and truly flasted... Having poked and prodded all weekend, not finding anything wrong with voltages, towing plugs, etc. I eventually gave up and took it to my local - and trusted - independent garage as I was out of time. Had a call from them 10 minutes later saying it was all fixed - they'd just changed both bulbs!!! I KNOW I checked the bulbs first-off, they were fine. I'm at a loss... I'm also mortally embarrassed, but they were good humoured enough when I picked it up! Still at least it's fixed and they didn't charge me anything. For anyone in the Ipswich area, I highly recommend Auto-Fit, just off Woodbridge road - top bunch of guys! ATB

Can find a black/red wire in the gaitor, but not a black/white one (nor any tails indicating a broken wire either). How can I check the voltage in the wires in the gaitor without cutting them? Thanks ATB

Thanks agin - will start checking this out. I've got the wiring diagram from the TIS CD and I've read it - trouble is I'm non the wiser once I've read it! Not everyone is an electrical engineer..... ;-)

I do have a towing plug actually - will check if there's anything loose, etc. - how did your short manifest itself? Thanks ATB

Did check - loads of wires with cracked sheaths - repaired them all with insulation tape, but it's made no difference. Any other ideas? Thanks ATB

Blowing Hot Air All The Time?
ATB replied to ATB's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Yes  The servo motors come with the electronic climate control variants. I thought that too - I never ever noticed any cable 'resistance' since I owned the car, unlike others I've had. -
Problem number 2 in as many days - I wonder what day 3 will bring? <gulp> Brake lights are not working, apart from the high level one at the top of the rear windscreen (all bulbs are OK). Glowplug light on dash has also started flashing all the time. Searching the forum, I've found some posts relating to the switch on the brake pedal - if this is broken it causes the glowplug light to flash. I will replace the switch as soon as the local VW/Audi parts department opens tomorrow but does anyone know why only the two normal brake lights are not working and why the high-level one still does? Is this because of the switch or something else? Also, the posts I've found mention that there are two switches on the brake pedal - a black one and a blue one - but I only have a black one with a blank slot where the blue one is, I assume, supposed to fit. Can anyone answer that one as well? Thanks all ATB

Blowing Hot Air All The Time?
ATB replied to ATB's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Well, as to why it's got dials not electronic CC - no idea - it's only a zetec, not a ghia - would that be why? It seems to have rectified itself today - stuck flap maybe? On to my next problem now - see seperate post! -
Blowing Hot Air All The Time?
ATB replied to ATB's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Sorry all - Mo4 is right, it's not electronic CC - just the usual hot/cold dial on the left, fan speed in the middle and direction control on the right. Thanks ATB -
Hi all Long time no post - long story. Anyway - have searched the forum to no avail - can anyone suggest why my 1.9 TDi is now blowing hot air out of the vents all the time, regardless of what the heater control is set to? Is something 'stuck' in the engine bay that I can unstick with a large hammer or other suitably delicate instrument? Any help gratefully received... Thanks ATB

Looks a nice site - where is it?

1. Adrian Barker 2. Ipswich, Suffolk 3. Y Reg, Mk. 2, 1.9 TDi Zetec 115 PS 4. 4 years 5. Possibly one of the newer ones, but not another Mk. 2 - I'm happy with it mainly, but too many things go wrong (WIPER BLADES & AIRCON!) too often and the rubberised coating on the interior door handles is driving me nuts! When it's time to change I'll look at the new Ford built ones but I'll also look at other makes - with 4 kids I need 7 seats so it restricts my market somewhat. 6. At least

is that a ranger 550/6 it looks like it have you had any problems with it! status ariel is crap anrnt they ive just gone sky in mine a lot better It is a 550/6 and it is brilliant - I've had no problems with it at all - wouldn't know about the status aerial as we never use it - TV is banned from the van! In fact I've been thinking about removing it completely and relacing it with a blanking plate to make getting the cover on and off easier. Build quality is great for the price and all the equipment has been reliable so far. A light towing wieght for the Galaxy had sold us on this model or the equivalent Avondale Dart and we haven't been dissapointed.

Well, I didn't do it in the end, but I did discover a neat trick for anyone like me who struggles to put a cover over a 23 foot caravan - Open the sliding sunroof - stand on the kitchen and fridge worktops inside with your body poking out of the sunroof and drag the cover on and over you - you're high enough up to pull it easily over the whole roof and avoid things like the aerial and gas fire vent - works a treat with no step ladder needed!

Aldborough Hall Farm - in the middle of Ilford! Aldborough Road North, Ilford, IG2 7TD. 0208 590 5882 Turn right off the A12 as you head into London, sign posted 'Aldborough Hatch' - drive past houses and pub on RHS and turn immediately right into farm entrance. Great view of the site on Google Earth if you bash in the postcode. It's a caravan club CL, so members only. Thanks ATB

Different strokes Whitty, different strokes... I'd have to get a lot more than 1 hotel room with my brood - it's one of the the many things I enjoy about my van ;) . We spent February half term on a farm 30 seconds from Newbury Park tube station and had great days out in London for

All I've got a Bailey Ranger 550/6 and one of the best things I've bought for it (apart from the motor mover :o ) is a full breathable cover for when it's in storage. It really makes a difference and I only have to wash the van once it's been somewhere and not when it's just come out of storage. The only downer is that the van is so long (23 feet) that it takes a while to get the cover on and I need to use a set of step ladders for the task. The cover is also huge when taken off and there's nowhere to store it at the storage site once I've taken it off. My question is - With my storage site approx. 5 miles from my house on normal urban roads where I'd be lucky to hit 30 with or without the caravan hitched up, do people think I could tow the van with the cover on? If I could then I could take off/put on the cover at home and dump it in the garage when not in use, plus I wouldn't have to cart the step ladders to and from the storage site. The cover is elasticated and goes down to the bottom of the van and is secured (very securely!) with webbing straps which run under the van from one side to another. The A-Frame and hitching gear is all still exposed at the front so no problems there. I can't see a problem, but wondered if anyone else could think of anything I should watch out for? TIA ATB

Steve I sort-of see your logic, but by 'hi-jacking' this thread you've added confusion here, rather than at the top forum level - which can be just as bad! Also, starting a new thread means your question will be seen by everyone logging onto the forum and not just those that read this particular thread, so you've more chance of a comprehensive response. I find it always pays to read the FAQs first before posting ANYTHING and then if you do post the 'obvious question' be assured that the moderators will point you towards the relevant thread rather than answering the same question again. Remember also - the search facility....

Wanna swap? :P COuld do, but must warn you - it's expensive to run.

Thanks Ivor The heater is still working at the moment (the mini-exhust from it gets too hot to touch), it's just smoking massively, so I doubt that any fault code has been logged. My Brother works for Fruad at Dunton, so he can reset pretty much anything if needed... You may be able to programme your defrost, but mine's got a remote control I can use whilst still tucked up in bed - it's about 5'2", brunette and curvey....
