hi,sadly(for me)i have a 1996 galaxy 2.0 ghia that failed its mot on horn buttons (on stearing wheel),1 tyre,and because of the brakes.the wife has decided to get another car and sell the galaxy as it is,because of how much the garage wants to fix it.i used to work on cars but am no longer able to do so.the brake pipes need securing,rear brake caliper is needed,spongy brake pedal,pedal creeps down while held under preasure(NOT leaking)because the is air in the system.abs light is on.that is all it faied on,i have mot failer sheet.(took on 3rd feb).was thinking of putting on ebay later but thought would put it on here to see what i am offered for it.depending on price offered,it was taxed 4 days ago!1st of feb.also has faulty drivers door lock(common fault).have had it 4 years and will be sad to see it go.liv in kings lynn,have traveled to portsmouth,wales,blackpool,scotland.has never let us down in 4 years.not too bad condition for a car of its age.had new battery last year,and a new cat for mot last year.would like to see it go to a good home rather than a dealer wanting to make money on her.welcome to come view/make me an offer,i can send photos in email also.any questions feel free to ask.thanks for reading.

i have changed a sensor that is closest to air filter box(not sure what sensor is called),it made no difference.someone will soon be fiiting something to do with fuel management(he thinks this is the problem).

hi,once again another problem has occured and i hoping someone has come accross this problem before and can help please.i have a 1996 20i ghia galaxy,the problem is that when i start it,either from hot or cold the revs are erratic.if i rev the car to 4000rpm it stays there for a while then slowlly drops back down to 1500rpm,rarelly going lower than that,sometimes it will stay at 4000rpm and not drop back down atall.through the gears as i push down the clutch the revs stay at whatever i take it too (3000rpm-4000rpm).i also noticed today it strugles to go over 4000rpm,it used to accelerate faster as it got to 4000rpm but thats now its limit.does anyone have any idea what could be wrong,i cannot afford to take it to a garage.hope someone can please help me.

HI,my galaxy drivers door is deadlocked,drivers doorlock hasn`t worked for a while so i have been locking and unlocking from passenger side with no problems for months,and could lock or unlock or deadlock all four doors/boot/petrol flap.today i unlocked from passenger door as usuall and drivers door deadlock didn`t unlock.it makes a repeating sound as if it is trying to unlock but it just dosn`t.can`t open from inside or outside because of deadlock.have disconected battery to see if system reset itself,it didn`t.drivers door lock keeps making sound untill i start car then sound stops,untill i stop and lock car then make noise again.any one come accross problem like this before?or does anyone know how i can open drivers door without damageing anything?thanks for reading hope someone can help as i can`t afford to take car to garage,THANKS.

hi carl,had same problem with mine.each key has a chip inside them,if the chip is missing or not programed to the car,the car is designed to shut down after a couple of seconds(safty feature to stop car from getting stollen,imobaliser kick in).if a key has a chip in it,it has to be programed which you would need the master key(red key).otherwise ford would have to do this for you and charge an arm ang leg.

hi,i done same thing resentlly.inside car unscrew bonet pull and plastic panell(about 4 screws)and then pull panel away and get your hand in there and hold in place,push in conecter and screw in clockwise,hope this helps,boxman32.

MY GALAXY DOES THE SAME,CONTACTED FORD THEY TOLD ME ITS THE ECM SWITCH WHICH IS LOCATED IN THE THREMESTAT HOUSEING,HAVE YET TO DO MINE AS THE STAR KEY BOLT ON THE HOUSING HAS ROUNDED OFF INSIDE,WE PAID AROUND

when i brought galaxy it came with 3 keys(only 1 had remote on it,that was my key)wife had normal key what workes fine.it was remote key that has gone wrong and i now use other normal key.was told that it very expensive to reprogram key so i will be using normall one from now on.

had problem starting car,thought it was fuel pump,was also sugested relay 30,167,and various others.had a few machanics look at it,told me various things,"need fuel pump","need compleate wiring loom from front to back".wife was doing her nut at me cause i drove it last.had phoned various garages including ford who was all useless.finally after a week of talking to loads of people and people looking at car a friend told me "i know a man who might be able to help".he came and had a look,asked if i had a spare key,IT STARTED FIRST TIME! :) the light on the door(flashes when doors are locked)was flashing fast when ignition was turned on,he said straight away"key knackard".so if your car wont start and the light is flashing fast on the door first thing i suggest trying is use a different key.my wife is now happy and life is back to normall :) :D :)

hi,does anyone know of an auto electrition(who dont charge arm and leg/rip you off,but must know what they are doing).i had a problem with starting and went through the basics and put it down to fuel pump,having this problem with older car i thought i could solve problem but i was wrong and ended burning out some wires(about 8) :D behind stereo and at the back of the fuse box(relay 167).if only i had found this site before hand all i had to do was change relay 167,now i have to change relay 167 and find auto electrician to sort out my wiring.cant connect battery as this causes wires to smoke even more.DOES ANYONE KNOW OF SOMEONE THAT COULD SORT MY PROBLEM OUT,I AM IN THE KINGS LYNN AREA(NORFOLK).because it was all my fault wife is upset with me and i am in the dog house,bigtime.PLEASE HELP.i have now learnt new cars are nowhere near as easy to work on as an old car(too computerized!loads more WIRES :D MY CAR IS A 1996 GALAXY GHIA and i have had it for a couple of years and had no problems before,i love this car and am desperate to get it sorted,if car cant get sorted and i have to get rid of it am worried that wife will get rid of me :) .and i do love her so :o ONCE AGAIN,PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN.

hi,haynes book dont say much about fuse box or relays,it sounds like relay 30,but relay 167(for fuel pump)is also a possibility.i have this trouble with mine for relay 167.
