Hi, Changed stat, although nothing was wrong with it, the pump is fine i felt the impeler when I changed the stat and was solid. I think the auxilary heater is working now, I dismatled the run-on pump and the bushes were worn. I get heat to start with but it soon goes cold when the temp hits 90 degrees. I think the blocked heater matrix is right. I really would be so appreciative if anyone can show me photos of where these things are, I just can't find it for the life of me. I read somewhere there is a front and back one, photos would be really appreciated, also any advice how to go about doing it would be great. Do I have to empty all the coolant again? with VAG I get... Hi, I know this question might have been asked 100 times but can't find answer. I have no heating at all. Aux hasn't worked for a while, other heating stopped at beginning of winter. Car doesn't overheat. Any solutions much appreciated.

Hi, I have the following code from the VAG-COM: 01410 - Heater Over-Temp 06-00 - Signal too High The problems I have are: Cold air blowing from heating White smoke from auxilary heater exhaust for a few mins Car overheating when going high speeds Anyone know exactly how to solve this please?

tried matt matt's sugestion, no joy :-( i measured the blocks and the following: group 1: 14.4v, 50c, 46c, 50 c group 2: on,on group 3: on,on,off, blower off group 4: pump off then 2 mins later: group 1: 14.4v, 115c, 88c, 98c it stared to rocket to 200c the 115 Any thoughts?

Thanks for this mattmatt, so do you think the glow plug is ok for the aux heater? I'll try your sugestion first thing tomorrow, 50cm is quite high and here in eastanglia hills are no where to be seen, but will try.

i have been there, there is no car better than a galaxy, i would only buy another galaxy, and it will have same problems come up. Recession is here, business is down, well non-existant so finances very limited at the moment. Thats why I realy want to make sure I buy the right part when I do. So any positive diagnostics would be great. Hi, Thanks for all the replies. I cleaned the wiring plugged in the injectors and that seems to have solved the rough running drives nicley. But still have the other problems. - White smoke when cold, could it be the glow plug? - Overheating in high speed, - No heat from heater - i did manage to get heat from heater when it started overheating the car, and even when it went back to 90 it still carried on blowing warm air for over 20 mins till i turned car off. I did have the overheating problem last year, I had changed the thermostat, which wasn't the cause also had a garage check the waterpump which he said was fine and changed the cambelt at same time, mysteriously it started working once he had put it all back together, he didn't say what it was that solved it. There is no coolant loss that i can see, the pressure in the coolant tank is high when i open it in the morning when the car is cold. Any ideas would be great. It has all happened same time :-(

Hi All, I had this problem, paniced thinking there is an engine fault. Anyway it was a simple mistake anyone could make, I had changed the brake light for a fog light they look identical i only noticed after looking at the side and nticing it was 4W instead of the 5W it should be. Hope this helps people.

I had my flywheel replaced over the weekend, the shaking and sound on startup has disappeared. Drove it a a long way, it seems like when i press the gas on high speed it accelerates then goes slower slightly, difficult to discribe its like waves. Also, something seems to be missing a big gap there, there's a plastic pipe sticking out of the car on the right hand side on the passenger side behind the coolant tank and fuel filter, is this normal, it seems to be dripping water?!

Thanks Seatkid, I have the CD its useless, was looking for expert's advice it seems to be a common problem. I didn't realise how bad the probelm i have is until I went to a car place that had exactly the same car. I got them to turn the car on, popped the bonnet and couldn't belive my eyes mine is f*****. Its so expensive to get the problem fixed is it likely that something else will have gone I don't want to fork out all that money only to find out something else is wrong.

I'm pretty sure now, been through all other stuff everyone has suggested, changed cambelt, tensioner etc, tried all the bolts, car engine shakes like mad, rough to drive and knocking on start up and when i turn car off.

I really need to sort my galaxy asap, its a 2001 MKII 1.9 tdi. The flywheel has gone, any ideas where i can get a flywheel at a good price please. The ford price is sky high. I'm in Norwich. Many thanks in advance.

Have just had a thought, before i bought the car it had been in an accident, i know oit had major work done on it late 2004. is it possible that the parts used by ford in that period could be under the recall? I checked my car its a MKII 2001 model so the recall doesn't apply, i even called ford and asked them to check.

Thanks Tim, This is the 2nd cambelt change for 8 months, the first time the garage didn't change the tensioner, looking under the coverer i noticed a peice missing from the tensioner where the hex key goes in, so i took it to a diff garage who fitted new belt and tensioner. This I think eliminates the cambelt. The engine shakes on the cambelt side up and down consistently, when the cambelt was replaced all the bolts were tightened correctly. So unless something is missing the engine should be correctly mounted. As I mentioned the local fraud dealer seems adiment its the wearing of the flywheel which is
