  1. good question, not sure where the maf is on petrol, sorry. Somewhere on the air intake tubes or throttle body I would imagine. Thinking about this it would seem to be some sort of choke problem. Remember the olden days when u had to pull out the choke when cold, and if you got it a bit wrong your car wouldn't go right? Maybe a fuelling/air issue - which could only really be located by plugging in diagnostics. I think that is the key to it.
  2. plugs, air filter, maf sensor, oil level - I'd start with all the obvious stuff. Then I'd take it to a decent dealer, if such a thing exists, and tell them what is going on and ask them to plug it in. I'd also request to be there when it is plugged in so u can see the results yourself. Ideally you would do 2 tests, one when cold.
  3. Yes indeed, and as on the etis site i stuck in above, the official ford schedule for cambelt on a 99v tdi is 60k/6yrs
  4. this is useful http://www.etis.ford.com/fordservice/serviceScheduleForm.do (apols if this is old hat but I couldnt find it anywhere on here)
  5. Aha, I have found it myself: http://www.etis.ford.com/fordservice/serviceScheduleView.do
  6. There seems to be some general confusion as to what the service schedule says about cambelt changes, if indeed anything. Is there a copy of the ford service schedule somewhere please, and what each service should include? For a tdi 99v reg? I'm looking for a written Ford recommendation about when cambelts are to be changed by main dealers as part of a service. (I know for honda's this info is included as part of the service schedule so I am thinking Fords schedule should/may have this too?) I called a large dealer chain a while ago and they advised 60k cambelt change as part of a service for tdi 99v but couldnt confirm if it was part of the schedule (the ford girly on fone didnt really know what she was doing). Any written documentation with this on a schedule please? Cheers for any help.
  7. I'd far rather buy a car off a forum where I know most people are enthusiasts and have looked after their vehicles. Plus you have a feeling of community so theres less chance of you getting a dodgy car/deal. At least it feels like that anyway! I bought my honda from the s2ki forum and it was a minter, plus u have the benefit of being able to look at that persons posting history so u get a feeling for the kind of person they are - loads of mods and "how fast I went today" tends to point to a boy racer etc etc. so I'm all for paying/subscribing for extra benefits....
  8. ok cheers for your reply. I'm a member on the s2ki forum, honda s2000, and they have a very successful for sale section, to sell s2000 cars and parts. Members can post other for sale items on there. As another example, the lotus elise forum, seloc, has a for sale section split into different categories, again very useful indeed. I'm sure you wouldn't get people joining here just to sell cars? Mind you this isnt regulated by membership fees is it, the other forums you have to pay before you can post for sale items so I guess thats fair enough. Shame though. You don't wanna buy a 206 gti do you? Or perhaps I could post in the wanted section - "wanted, buyer for 206 gti" :16: If anyone is interested, rather than posting it all up on here, please look at: http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=403184
  9. apols, not a tech question but unsure where to post this question - is there a for sale section anywhere? I've got a 206 gti that I'd like to post up but can't see if this is possible. It would also be very handy if anyone had galaxy related stuff to sell as well? Sorry if there is one and I just can't see it!
  10. Anyone know if a 3point seatbelt can be retro fitted to the center rear seat on a 99v ghia x tdi?
  11. my sister just picked up a ghia x 99 v tdi. it has a few keys with it, one a black plastic key which doesnt seem to do anything, wont unlock doors etc. Anyone know what this is for please? Apols if this has been asked before but cant find it on search....
  12. excellent, I was really hoping it would be simple like that with no real tricky bits. Cheers for your help. :(
  13. I'm looking at picking up a 99 v plate tdi ghia for my sister, she has her 3rd kiddy on the way so needs a bus! The one I have in mind is great apart from the fact that the driver door retainer thing is shot, so the door swings open/shut unaided. It seems to be the bar retainer thing is just worn out (I don't know the proper name for it can u tell). I'm guessing the door panel needs taking off to get to the innards, and then just bolt a new one in. Anyone had any experience of this please, or can offer any advice etc?? Thanks in advance.
  14. cheers, I'll go to ebay, just trying to save a few squid if it was downloadable somewhere, but doesnt look like it.....
