  1. If you are near North London, I can suggest an Air Con guy, who rebuilds the pipes himself. I have had a very hard time finding one capable and reliable, but he is the one. New pipes from dealer are very esxpensive. http://alpinair.co.uk/ Good Luck
  2. I need help before I go and try to replace the whole cluster. The speedometer works, but when I reach about 45/50 MPH it drops to ZERO and it stops working; mileage is also not accrued and the Cruise Control will stop working too. Does anybody know the inner workings of this particular part? Is it electronic, cable fed, or anything else? Thank you
  3. I can handle basic DIY. The heater metrix has cracked and steam started coming into the car. Had the pipes looped before it comes into the dashboard but now have no heating. The best price I got for replacing it is
  4. Galaxy 1.9 TDi, 1998 AUTO. I am sticking to it as I have spent so much money on it that I am not ready to admit defeat. Problem I am having is with the gearbox since I have purchased the vehicle. History: rebuilt the box - not working well; replaced new ecu - working better but still not right - replaced wiring asembly - better still but still not right. Now what we have still is sudden change from 1st to 2nd, especially when cold and when pressing down the accelerator. Also, from 3rd to 4th when going uphill for instance and accelerating slightly, it will shake and rattle the whole dashboard unless I push harder or manually stick to the 3 selector. Gearbox had been reinstpected by the garage that reconditioned it, taken down and apart, and they assured me all the parts are 100%. Do I give up?
  5. Can anybody tell me if I can get the actual current HorsePower of my vehicle verified, and if yes, where can I get it done in London? Apart from the Fraud dealers obviosly... I have seen an episode of Top Gear where a mobile unit came along and the car was strapped on it and then tested. It does not have to be mobile, just want to know how the test is called and where can I have it done. Just need to know how much life my engine has got into it. Thanks
  6. Thank you ChromeDome. What you have told me here is very important because I do experience the power steeering failing at low speds in wet conditions. So, at least I have established that the splash shiled is important. I will have the engine mounts checked tomorrw. A/C pipes broken indeed. Thank you again
  7. A) I have a Galaxy MK1 1.9 TDi and it is very noisy. I have looked into some solutions and I then somehow became aware that there should be or could be a shield under the engine. Does anybody know if this particular shield is only a splash guard or is it also a noise insulator? My vehicle does not have it fitted, so I am considering the purchase of one if it is indeed a noise insulator. Also, where can I get it cheap apart from the breakers? One more problem: it seems that all Galaxy/Sharan/Alahabra Diesel and Automatic have problems with the auto trasmission. I have had mine rebuilt, and it did not work fine. I was told to replace the gearbox Ecu, I did and it still does not work fine. At times it vibrate so bad between gears or trying to change gear or whatever that the whole dashboard rattles. (It damaged the heater metrix but that's another story). Any ideas? C) Anywhere I can get the A/C pipes apart from FORD? Thanks all for your help
  8. The one thing that's irritating me about the Galaxy is that when the tank is full and down to half, you could actually hear the diesel moving about, slapping the inside walls of the tank etc. Very annoying... Anybody else bothered by this?
  9. Galaxy TDi 1998: The tailgate is locked and it is not unlocking with the remote. All other doors lock/unlock no problem. I cannot fit in the key, as it enters only halfway and no more, so using it is not an option. I have tried with lots of WD40, but it did not help. Before I try something drastic, is there a separate fuse for the tailgate I should look into? And if not, what should I do?
  10. I have the yellow coil (whatever it is called) on the dashboard flashing for the past two days. Galaxy 1.9 TDi, Ghia X, Auto, 1998. At the same time when I press on the gas pedal the engine misses beats. What do I need to know b4 I go and give my hard earned money to the Ford dealer? Also, is this problem correctable by anybody else outside of Ford? I am also looking for a refurbished/used Auto Gearbox ECU; part number 98VW12B565JA. They cost a fortune. I have been looking for one for the past six months with no luck. Thanks
  11. I have just had the gearbox (automatic) rebuilt, but I have been told that I need a new ECU as it does not change gears properly, jumps into second etc. Are there any other solutions other than buying a new one from Ford, as it seems quite expensive and am currently out of work. I did not find any on ebay or maybe I did not described it properly on the search.
