  1. I have recently acquired a ford galaxy 2.3 zetec 1999, first chassis as it's on changeover year. This first problem is passenger and drivers windows go down ok, but I can only close them when I lock the car on the passenger door lock, after a while, the drivers window opens a couple of inches on it's own. 2nd problem is I can't lock the drivers door as the lock spins in the handle with key inserted and I can't manually lock the door from the inside as it won't push inwards. 3rd problem is the interior lights don't go out when ignition on or normal use. Last problem is the wiper arm spindles are worn, is there a repair kit? Any help will be appreciated

  3. The rear coil Springs were easy to do. Just remove the bottom shock bolts and jack up the rear axle until the wheels are off the ground and pull the old Springs out, push the new ones in and lower the car to put the shock bolts back in. Just the electrical issues to sort out now.
  4. The coil Springs are actually broken, so they need replacing as part of the MOT. The radio turns off when the key is removed, but the digital displays are still reading and the fuel and temp gauges are still reading. Up until a few months ago, they all used to switch off and nothing is displayed.
  5. 2 other faults on the car is rear coil Springs broken are they easy to do? And when I switch the ignition off, the dashboard is still live, any ideas?
  6. It went on a scanner today and proved it is the horn ring at fault.
  7. Thanks Brian, I managed to find one on ebay for 19.99 guaranteed. It has come out of a 2000 mk1 is that ok?
  8. My steering rack started leaking a couple of weeks ago and had to fit a replacement for the mot. Car failed on airbag light. Need a clock spring for it from somewhere cheap. Any ideas?
  9. Can you tell me the part number for the clock spring or squib for a mk1 1.9 tdi galaxy as I have a chance of buying one for 20 pounds not used. Thankyou
  10. Thanks Brian, I have a friend who has diagnostic equipment from snapon, hopefully that will tell me what the fault is. I will let you know what it comes up with.
  11. Than you Brian, problem sorted with steering. Car went for MOT and failed on airbag warning light on all the time. Any ideas to try and get this sorted cheaply. Thanks
  12. The n/s boot was slightly damp and the oil level is ok. Not yet jacked up the car, will do that tomorrow when I replace the n/s wishbone. Steering racks seem to be expensive, any cheaper options?
  13. I have a slight oil leak on the n/s of the steering rack, probably a contributing factor. Seems funny that this has all of a sudden come to light after changing a coil spring and top strut rubbers too
  14. Both unfortunately, its like a judder and can be heard from outside too. Steering feels heavy.
  15. I have just changed the o/s/f road spring on my galaxy and changed both sides top strut mounts/bearings, but my galaxy (mk 1 tdi) is very noisy when I turn left mainly. Any advise please. Also my n/s/f wishbone bushes are soft, could this affect the steering?
