  1. Hi again guy's n gal's, Just had the anti-roll/torque bar ( big bar under car that stops the engine twisting) snap again!!!! ;) Bolt sheared this time and took half the thread from the bar with it! I don't have a manual so :( ..... could one of you please tell me what the torque setting is for this item. My thanks in advance :( Chesh100
  2. Thanks, glad to think that someone agrees that the motorways are often slower to get anywhere nowdays, all these road works are a real pain.
  3. Heading up to Leicester Uni tomorrow with one of the kids for a look see! Starting point is South Essex, I feel it would be best to avoid the M25 and M1 route, so am thinking about going up the M11 then A14 and finally A6. Starting journey about 8am ish. Could anyone in these areas advise on traffic/road conditions please. Thanks in advance
  4. Hi Martin I have had a 2.8 N reg for the last two years. It's not the ultima range so I don't know what the differences could between the two, but mines done 136K+ on the original engine :P , still has the original exhaust, you can tell this from the rear section, the original is one unit but to replace it you have to fit two, they are joined just in front of the rear axle i believe. I have had to replace the engine anti-roll/torque bar, this is under the engine and with mine a solid thunk could be heard at the start of reversing. Not expensive and easy to replace though. Having a few problems with the ABS at the moment :D , still trying to pinpoint the problem :D ! so do check it's working as it should. Other than that, I have found it to be a joy to drive :D Good luck
  5. I've looked at the ring and can't see anything wrong. It's not loose or cracked, I've given it a clean.Anything else I should be looking for on it?
  6. Right update! Checked all sensors and they are all close to 1ohm. Think the N/S/F has been the culprit.Every time the lights come on disconecting and re-connecting seems to re-set the system. What I'm, confused about now is as follows: From reading all the different threads about brakes, the system appears to send a signal when the vehicle first moves away when the speed reaches about 12-14 mph. At this speed I can hear what is best discribed as a "grinding" noise, thought it was supposed to be "clicking". Most of the time this is all that happens and the brakes work correctly. Occasionaly though, this "grinding" can be heard occuring at about 30 mph, and shortly after, the warning light will come on again. Quick disconnect and re-connect puts it all back to normal for a while. The question is, is it the sensor that's causing the problem or, because of the "grinding" thats occuring, elsewhere in the system? and what is it? Any ideas? Thanks in advance Nigel
  7. I checked them after reading the other posts, they're ok.
  8. Hi, I'm having a bit of a brake problem, have read a lot of the posts and have a few ideas, but could do with a bit of advice. My problem: ABS warning light sometimes stays on. - I belive this to be a bad connection on the N/S/F. Main problem is when the ABS light doesn't come on, sometimes at slow speeds (about 5 mph) when I touch the brake pedal it pulsates and a grinding noise can be heard! I am thinking it might be air in the ABS pump and intend to bleed the system at the weekend, I don't have a manual and am unable to look at a schematic of the brake system to work out what the best way to approach the job. Can anyone advise please or have any other suggestions as to what is going on. Thanks Chesh100
