  1. I am still running about with a faulty sensor in my coat pocket, needs one to get rid of the fault. Might just have to bite the bullet ?? Does the
  2. I have a 6 foot long by 4 foot wide box trailer inside my galaxy just now, with tow hitch takes the trailer to 11 feet long. I still have 5 seats in the car too. How do I do that ?
  3. I have just asked him if there are any woodworm on the banjo !! (I know it is a guitar....)
  4. Hi, The road dirt acts as superglue ! QTo disconnect, there is one lug that you need to prise apart with a flat blade screwdriver. Maybe easier to remove sensor with cable connected, so that you can see the connector closer up - there are 2 lugs holding it in, you need to open the 2 lugs and pull at the sensor. Got mine out a few weeks ago, but struggling to get a replacement (other than from Fraud !). Good luck
  5. Carried 3.6m lentghs of fencing yesterday, previously carried 4.2m lengths too. Does stick out the back a touch, but only going for 10 miles..
  6. Here is Scotland, the guys even help you unload the heaviest of bags of rubble or tree cuttings, obviously hoping for a wee bottle of the strong stuff at Christmas !! No height restrictions. In Rep of Ireland, you have to pay euro5 for a boot load of garden rubish, euro8 for a small van load etc etc. Do dump any other stuff in Rep of I, you just gotta squeeze it into your wheely bin each week or, ......fly tip !!
  7. Hiya, What iritates me about the Galaxy ? - have you ever tried to change front brake pads ? Easy enough, but you know how you always have to push the cylinder of the claiper back to allow the new pads in, and worth checking the level on the brake servo reservoir is not overflowing ?? Well, tell me, how to you remove the lid of the brake fluid reservoir ? Mine is clogged up with steel pipework above it, making it a nightmare to access. Anyone else with same problem or a solution ???? Graeme
  8. Hiya, I removed the bracket too when I had to change the rear drivers side lamp. Changed front side light yesterday - actually removed the whole headlight to do it (then readin the owners book that you can get from under the wheel arch) Graeme
  9. Hi NikPV, If you look back at the stream of replies to my parking sensor query, you will see an entry from GenePaul - he says (and is right) that if you put a finget on the parking sensors you will feel a high frequency clicking feeling. I found 7 of 8 of mine to be giving this clicking. Let me know if you get anywhere with it. I agree with you - in hoping that MO4 finds the sensors (looks like bids will be coming in for them !!) Graeme
  10. Mumof4: The one I have already removed from my Galaxy is actually an Audi part (The VW-Audi connection ?) - I think the part number is 7M3 919 275. I have tried to attach a photo of the sensor and the holder. Graeme
  11. Genepaul, If you find a source for a new sensor, let me know. Looks like
  12. Thanks to all who replied - I will give it a try. Will let you know how I get on.
  13. I have 1 remote key fob already programmed, and another key with no remote. You recon I can program a second remote using the procedure in the link ?
  14. Hi, Does anyone know how I could re-program a new remote key fob - just got chance to buy one from a breakers and would be useful to have a second one for the car. Thanks, Graeme
  15. Hi, My main dealer gave me a clanger of a problem to deal with - I had an MOT fail for a track rod end. Removed old one, had to hacksaw off the stem from the ball joint as the nut was seized. Left the Galaxy on jacks in the garage, trundled along to main dealer (Central Scotland) to get a replacement. None in SCotland - will get overnight from soemwhere in England. Tried halfords, but similar. Fair enough, ordered from main dealer, gauranteed to be in by 10am next day. (I was flying to Ireland that afternoon, so the pick up of the part and the fitting and re-test of MOT all had about 3 hrs total - thought it was do-able). So, what went wrong ? Well, the part, costing
  16. Hi, Does anyone know the cost of a new parking sensor or where I can buy them from. Thanks, Graeme
  17. Well Mr T, Mine are of the red glass type, and 7 or 8 of them click. It really is not a loud sound, not any louder that the click from your watch. There is the VAG-COM - is it a web site ? What is full web address ?
  18. Chris (triple Trouble) - You appear to have the same fault as me with the parking sensors. I too have bleep for a few seconds and then the flashing light on the switch at the dashboard. The advice from earlier about checking that they click when reverse is selected is a good one - I tried it with the car outside and the background noise from wind n kids runing about meant that I could not hear any clicking - had to go inside garage to hear it. Each sensor should click. Let me know how you get on with this. I am still trying to get a hold of a replacment sensor. Graeme
  19. Can anyone tell me where I can buy the parking sensor ? Does it have to be from the Ford dealer (the sensor is actually stamped with Audi !)
  20. Hi, Thanks for your information on this problem - has been very useful. Have found one of the rear sensors does not "click". Other 3 and the front four do click. I am now going to get a replacement sensor, then I will know if that's been my only problem or not (is the control unit OK ??). Thanks again, Graeme
  21. Hi, I have a 2000 Galaxy 1.9TD Zetec, just reading some of the postings and found others have had the same problem with the rear washer conenction coming undone under the passenger footwell ! I am sure I glued mine back in with superglue ! Anyway, my problem of the moment is the parking sensors, you dont know how much you rely on them until they are broken ! When I go into reverse, the rear ones bleep constantly for about 8 seconds then go quiet, with the switch at the front of the car flashing. The front ones do not give a whimper at all. I was wondering where the control unit was for it and also wondered if a faulty snesor was unplugged, would the others work OK - does the system go to fault state if one is unplugged ? What is the wiring config for them ? I notice the 4 sensors are wired to a plug (only 6 connectors used) in the area behind the rear left light cluster. I guess one is +12V and one is return, and each of the other 4 are a sensor's output each ? Can I disconnect 1 or do I put one to 12V to test the other 3 ? How do I test if a sensor is gubbed ? Any help much appreciated.
