if its the vw engine as mine is the gearbox is very heavy and needs anticlockwise to release it from the bracket at the back. i have replaced my clutch twice since july 2014,,, single flywheel conversion kit, 1st clutch was a recon unit and only lasted 1800 miles 4 months... euro parts didnt inform me it was a recon unit and i had a job trying to get it replaced, i opted for a better one, valeo is the make £80 more but its starting to go the same way at just over 2000 miles. takes ages to strip out the battery tray etc to gain access to all the bolts and cables on the box, drain out the oil from the box too, it makes it lighter to drop down and refit. clutch hydraulics unplug at the bleed valve on thr front of the box. i used 2 engine supports, 1 under the engine and the other under the gearbox to help lower and replace. will take about 3 to 4 hours.
