  1. I had this very problem a few days back. 1 - coil pack failure. 2 - maf sensor failure. both of the above were my problems. So firstly disconnect the MAF sensor block & see if this makes any difference. Then move onto checking plugs, replace ht leads & then maybe think about swapping out a coil pack. there is a place in essex that does the coil pack for
  2. I forgot to say, that on one occassion I replaced the coil & it still misfired. I then replaced the leads (one at a time) & that cured the problem. I then back tracked & swapped out the new coil with old coil pack & the problem reoccured. So out of the 8-9 coil pack I have changed, only once has the ht leads been PART of the problem. happy new years all you gals. eze
  3. I run a 2.3 LPG, The plugs cost me
  4. I had the same/similar problem that you described Bagpuss on my 2.3L petrol. The problem initally started 2 years ago, symptoms were kangarooing away from the lights under hard acceleration only BUT only when the engine was hot. Then it started to occur hot or cold. Next stage was it would bog down completely if I gave it WOT (wide open throttle) from a standstill, To get around this I had to feed the power in slowly. I spoke to my mechanic man who recommended changing the coilpacks. I did this (

  11. You guys are lucky, tranny oil change at 40,000 miles sounds good to me. On my 2.3 galaxy engined Metrocab with A4LD box I have to change the fluid at 6-8,000 mile intervals. It takes 10l of dexion3 (
  12. Ogben 'Another thought though is that you can't use these forums as a guide because most folk only search them out when they have a problem. Not many first time posters come to say what a great car it is!! ' Good point, I must admit to being one of those :( What I fear though is the scenario of going to FMD (ford main dealer) & paying what
  13. Hi, As you regular posters have noted, I am new here. I am regular with problems, I have them all the time with my motorbike. Of late I have had them with the Galaxy engine (on my Metrocab) :( . What amazes me is the amount of problems that people are experiencing with electrical/electronic faults :D . Cars have become so complex nowdays, nothing is no longer easy for a simple 'carb & points' man like me. Is all this electronic wizardry really improving our lives or does it just incur extra cost at the hands of 'so called specialists'? just a thought eze
  14. HI, can anyone recommend from experience LPG service/fault finding for AG system in London, Herts or Essex area please thanks eze
  15. I replaced the plugs & gapped them recently (2000 miles) smaller gap for LPG. Coils are okay...both been replaced ..as once again I understand that LPG is heavy going on the ignition system. I am not certain how the Lamda operates on LPG... My system is AG system. Plesae tell me more about the LPG indicator lights...the only thing I have is; red light - comes on & blinks whilst engine is start on petrol. (I also believe that the red blinking light will stay on if there is a fault as it is in diagnostic mode whilst 'blinking') Then I have 4 green diodes that indicate LPG fuel level. When you say 'evaporate' I presume you mean vapouriser (the bit that turns Liquid lpg into a gas)??? I am in the London/Herts area.........any good independent ford or lpg contacts in London area will be appreciated. thanks eze

  17. here is an interesting article regarding Lamda's http://www.picotech.com/auto/lambda_sensor.html eze Ps - If you think your galaxy is bad for problems, think again, learn from my lesson & never buy a Buell motorcycle. www.ukbeg.com
  18. Hi, I am new to the forum. I drive a 1987 Metrocab (london Taxi) with a 2.3 galaxy engine that has an LPG conversion. Questions; 1 - Is the 2.3 Galaxy engine basically the same as a Scorpio engine? .....If so then this looks interesting & very indepth www.fordscorpio.co.uk 2 - A few months ago my taxi developed a poor/eratic idling problem. I fiddled with some wires on the front Lamda & this cured the problem. The fault became more aparent over time & no amount of wire fiddling cured the fault. Consequently I fitted an aftermarket Lamda (
