  1. Hi, MK3, September 2007 with 40K, owned since new. Last 6 months noticed squeeling from engine bay when accelerating, easy to recreate if you get rolling pop it in third and put your foot to the floor. Been in Reading Ford four times now and today they tell me one of the pipes to.from the intercooler is leaking and require replacing. Under warranty so no worries my end luckily, they seem to think it is a days job to correct. Is this a common problem, is there anything else I need to look out for, could it have caused any damage to intercooler/turbo? Regards, Paul
  2. Hi all, What are your thoughts on the Aircon and Heating in the MK3? I used to have a MK2 1.9TDI Ghia and both heating and cooling were exceptional (that is when the aircon compressor was not been changed 3 times of the aux heater was been replaced!) However on the MK3 2.0 TCDI Ghia I found the heating lacking over the winter and the cooling barely good enough in the summer, I imaging if we have another hot day this year it will struggle to keep the vehicle cool. I tend to leave climate on at all times and on auto expecting it to sort itself out! Regards, Paul
  3. I have not read this group for ages and then I read three posts and thought I'd written them myself, its amazing how the problems I have noticed with my Sept 07 Galaxy Ghia 2.0 have been described so perfectly by others! Well Bob, I have exactly what you describe and was also intending leaving it to the first service. I was a little concerned of some Ford mechanic poking and hoping as the problem is very slight but annoying all the same. The scenario I most often notice it is when on the motorway where you might have taken your foot off the accelerator at say 70mph then apply a little power and you get that fraction of a secong hesitation. Amazing, I'll go and see if I can find any of my other niggles now! Let me know how you get on, I will be interested to know how/if they can fix this! Paul
  4. Really interesting what you say here! I had a very early MK3 secondhand from the local Ford dealer with 3500 miles on the clock (2.0 TDCI Ghia). I could not drive the thing smoothly to save my life and as you have commented it was either stalling or bat out of hell, nothing much inbetween. In the end having got nowhere with the dealer I got all my money back and purchased a new Galaxy (also a 2.0 TCDI Ghia) and it was a different car to drive, as you would expect and no more stalling/bat out of hell problems!
  5. I have this problem but only on the passenger side front. It appears to be so tight that the anti trap you hand in the window protection kicks in. Need to take mine in some time to get it sorted, interesting that all yours are a problem!
  6. I don't have any whine either on my 2.0 TCDi 140ps
  7. My Mark2 Galaxy never had balance weights clipped to the rims during the 80,000 mile I had it for. The Mark3 Galaxy has one weight on each wheel clipped to the RIMs. Why?
  8. Hi all, Why do Ford fit the wheel balance weights to the outside of the alloy RIM on the Galaxy? This seems crazy to me and it is likely to cause damage to the alloy and makes them more difficult to keep clean.
  9. Last night I reconfigured the seats for maximum carrying capacity (middle and rear row flat) and it took 2 minutes. I reckon if you rushed you could do the whole lot in a minute! Previously it took ages, gave you a bad back and filled the living room with seats! In terms of comfort then I have had no complaints from the kids yet...
  10. Thanks Squishy, I did clean the screen around the sensor and the vehivle ssems to have been left with a coat of something having not been cleaned very well on delivery. Today there turned off on the way into work so I am happy now. I assume they have a high degree of hysterisis to avoid them turning on/off all the time with the bias been towards staying on. Did not go for the clever headlight option, maybe next time! I find the auto wipers are really clever, first time I have had these but they work really well.
  11. Very quickly as I have only had mine a few days, did previously have 1.9TDi Ghia, now have 2.0TCDi Ghia. Ride and handling is like stepping into a new century (much much better) No rattle, creaks or bangs No aux booster heater to worry about :-) Very refined Seats are thiner but prefer that then having to remove and carry the old one into the garage everytime you want to reconfigure. No spare wheel, not a problem to me... have repair kit and recovery membership I really like it, the voice control that comes wit hthe bluettoth carkit option is great So far I love it!
  12. Hi, I ordered a new galaxy with electric rear opening quarted vents however due to a delay in the vehicle been built and a change of spec by ford they managed to deliver the vehicle without them. No big deal for me really and I got the money back for the option but I have a question on what if fitted! It looks to me as thought the motors might be present although t he switches that would normally be in the overhead console are not. Does anyone know what is fitted, is the loom there? are the motors fitted regardless and is it just a case of fitting the switches? Regards, Paul
  13. Hi all. I have a new Galaxy Ghia which has the autolights option. I only picked the car up on Friday and have observed the behaviour of the autolights over the last few days. There is no problem with the lights coming on in the evening as the ambient light level drops but what I have noticed is that when I go to work in the morning (7.15am) they come straight away even on the bright mornings we have had the so far this week. Once on they seem reluctant to go off so for example I can drive the 12 miles into work and the headlights are still on. When I stop at work if I turn the ignition off and back on again the lights remain off. Seems like the hysterisis is set high and I wondered if this is normal behaviour? I suspect this might be normal and avoid the lights repeatedly switching off/on with the bias been towards on? Be interested to hear anyone else
  14. Hi all, Does anyone know if it is possible to fit the genuine phone/bluetooth option to the new Galaxy after the vehicle has been delivered? Regards, Paul
  15. Wazza, My car was first registered in July and the electrically opening rear quarter windows were an extra option together with the glass roof and heated seats which the Ford demo centre must have requested. Regards, Paul
  16. I have just purchased an ex demo 2.0 tcdi Galaxy Ghia with 3500 miles on the clock via Ford direct. So far I am really pleased with the car and it is in A1 condition but I have found a few faults that need correcting. The first is the luggage compartment lights do not come on although the dash indicates the luggage compartment door is open. The second problem is the radio is deaf on FM, on the old Galaxy I drive from Bracknell to Slough and usually listen to Heart FM, on the new Galaxy it is not possible, I assume the radio is faulty of the in glass aerial or feeder is damaged or not connected correctly. The rear electrically opening rear quarter windows do not close in the correct position. And finally the long centre roof console rattles. If anyone has experienced any of these problems I would be interested to hear as I would rather solve them myself where possible. Regards, Paul
  17. Any chance of getting the part number off it? Regards, Paul Please!
  18. Any chance of getting the part number off it? Regards, Paul
  19. John thanks for that, do you know the easiest way to get access to it? Also what is your understanding of what this sensor does? Cleary on mine the booster heater ambient air temp sensor is on the wiper arm but I seem to recall the sensor behind the bumber was also referred to as aux heater in Vw documentation. Or did they move the location of it at some point? I'll be glad when I get to the bottom of this and find the correct replacement :-) OK. Just to clarify a point here. If you check in the TIS, you will see that there are several wiring diagrams for the booster heater, depending on the model and year/month of manufacture! Yours sounds like mine, which is a late 2002 model. On this model, if you check the CORRECT wiring diagram in the TIS, the booster heater is switched by a switch on connector N289 which is the one by the fog lamp! I don't think you'll find one on your wiper arm, I certainly couldnt! John John mine is late 2001 (Nov 14th). I do have one on the wiper arm and could not find anything near the driver side fog light. I just nned to clarify the correct part number! Regards, Paul
  20. Hi, Does anyone have the actual part number off the temp sensor located near the wiper linkage on the Mk2 TDi Galaxy. This is the temp sensor that detect ambient air temperature and allows the booster heater to operate when the temp falls below approx 10c. I would really appreciate it if anyone who has removed or replaced this item made a note of the VW part number. Regards, Paul

  22. no help but one day I'll try and take a picture of this little b*gg*r :( :D Could you get the part number off it at the same time please!
