Galaxy Mk 1, 1.9 Tdi Gearbox Same As Petrol ?
Ghia-X replied to kazandbaz's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
A petrol autobox wont fit in a diesel Galaxy . Not only are the ratios and final drive gearing different , but the bellhousing mounting bolts will not line up as they are in different places on the petrol autobox. You need to find a diesel box . :D -
I also have a 2012 Titanium X 163 Powershift , 6 weeks old and 1200 miles , and havent had any of these issues with mine . The box changes smoothly , response is instant everytime and my hill assist works as it should .

Wanted Spare Wheel Carrier
Ghia-X replied to woodywoodpecker's topic in Cars and auto related items.
Ive got one in perfect working order if you still need one :) -
As far as I know , coilovers arent available for the Mk3 Galaxy Ebay Germany has some 40mm springs on there for sale , but thats the lowest there is that I can see so I guess youre out of luck if you want lower. Pity you didnt have a Mk1 or Mk2....Ive just bought some AP coilovers that drop my Mk1 90mm at the front and 65mm at the rear .

Ford sell an Eibach suspension kit as an accessory kit for the Mk3 Galaxy which will lower the car by 30mm . Price is around

Fitting Aftermarket Remote Central Locking Unit
Ghia-X replied to brasso's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Fitting an aftermarket remote kit is very easy on a Galaxy . Ive just put a cheapie Ebay kit on my Mk2 Galaxy , and also a Toad RK30 kit on my Mk1 Galaxy. I wouldnt recommend using the wires that lead to the fuel filler locking unit . Yes your locking kit will work , but it will not activate the Ford alarm , the flashing door LED or the additional deadlocks that are fitted to the car . Its much easier wiring it directly to the MFU / fusebox next to the steering column as you can make the connections there very easily and as a bonus , the wires you need to attach the lock and unlock pulse wires to are in easy to pull out connector blocks on the mfu also. The first kit took me about 30 mins to fit , the second one about 15 minutes.... -
Galaxy - Back Passenger Doorlock Stuck
Ghia-X replied to Mr Nood's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
It sounds like the deadlock is on and thats why the door wont open . The most likely cause for this problem is a broken wire in the rubber gaitor between the door and the door post . You may need to get a Haynes manual to find out the correct colour wire that goes to the deadlock so you can add a power supply in order to trigger the deadlock into releasing . -
If you can hang on until Saturday , I might be able to help you out as Im breaking a couple of Galaxy Autos at the moment. I will give you a ring then if you dont get sorted in the meantime Cheers

A picture of my JAV from the ebay listing http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a84/arv6/B9JD5cEGkKGrHqRiEzLW0g01vBM48-vrQQ_12.jpg Im not sure what make the wheels are to be honest....I bought them for my TDi . http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a84/arv6/74_15_08_10_8_29_59_2-1.jpg They arent on the car now as Ive replaced them with a set of Kahn alloys http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a84/arv6/007-1.jpg

Mines no longer on its JAV plate  (suppose I could always stick it back on for pic lol) http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a84/arv6/009-2.jpg

She has certainly had a hard life hasnt she . I forgot to say , the other reason I fancied her is because I have a white 2.3 Ghia X and its reg number is also a V*** JAV , so I thought it kinda weird how they were both registered in the same area (Peterborough I believe) and yet they both end up here in the North East .

I was gonna have a go at buying that exact same Galaxy Im breaking a diesel in the same colour and intended replacing most of the damaged panels on it with the ones off my car . Unfortunately the price you paid for it put me off bidding....small world eh

Changing to 17 or 18 inch wheels wont affect the speedo so long as you choose the correct profile tyre. A 17 inch wheel would need a 225/45 x 17 tyre which would keep the speedo correct....likewise with an 18 inch wheel you would need a 235 / 40 x 18 tyre If you go for smaller 225/40 x 18 tyre then you wont get it with the required load index. Ive run my Galaxys over the last 9 years on every size of wheel available from standard 15 and 16 inchers , through 17 , 18 and 19 inch rims , right up to 20 inch and have never had a problem with my speedo reading off.
