Hey folks, driving home the other day and the battery warning comes on...ho hum, new alternator I think.... Apparently that's ok, BUT both the brackets and the lower mount bolt have completely shattered and the alternator is flapping about in the engine bay!!! The only reason it didn't make a bid for freedom via the bonnet is the fact that the belt slipped behind the pulley and held the thing down. Both the brackets outlined in the pic attached have shattered on my car..... I guess it must have been progressive as the engine runs so it didn't seize up and break them that way.... Anyone else had something this extreme happen to them? I will get a pic of the actual damaged bits up once it stops raining...in the meantime the pic gives an idea of what's broken and if anyone knows anyone who has replacements for me I'd appreciate hearing about it, ebay folks go strangely quiet once I send them the pic....can they really be so hard to get out / replace? Any input welcome, I'm scratching my head here....
