My Steering Rack Has Died!
viperclive replied to daddyfixit's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Good luck with exchange rack, mine lasted 3 yrs then it decided to do its own thing! It didn't like me going round long corners, kept trying to straighten up lol, bought a second hand one of ebay for £20, fitted it two weeks ago, works a treat, don't forget tracking after! -
Hope someone can help, my gear stick is very sloppy, I've had it apart and its the plastic bits that hold the bottom of the stick in place, it's worn big style and some of the plastic fingers that hold it down have broken off! Would anyone have the part no's for the bits and know where i can get them from?

Just The Pulley Wanted For Tensioner
viperclive replied to looops's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi, did mine on my mk1 2.3 a few months ago, got the tensioner pully wheel only off ebay, about £20, when I get home tonight I will look back on purchase history and let you know number, phone app won't let me do it on ebay! -
Jackup drivers front wheel, remove wheel, remove tray, remove air filter, take photos or drawing of how auxiliary belt fits around pullies, n that's very important! Ease off tension on belt on belt tensioner, belt off, now remember disconnect battery, now discon wiring on alternator. Now its time to attack nuts n bolts holding it in place, refitting is reversal, job done hit fridge with cold lager! Put plasters on cuts lol.

viperclive replied to Gidwick's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Sorry didn't realise, hell of a stupid place to put it, I suppose they moved it because of that problem with flooding. -
I have mk1 2.3 gal and my rack is on the way out, it was an exchange unit 3 yrs ago and now constantly when cornering tries to straighten up, this becomes a fight! I'm looking at trying a second hand one this time, anyone know if the mk1 2.3 rack is the same as the mk2 2.3? Also any member out there with a rack for sale! Preffbly one that works!

Mk1 Alarm And Central Locking At Wits End!
viperclive replied to Gidwick's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Just a thought, check under front passenger seat, there you will find a black plastic box, control unit for alarm, central locking and instant opening of all windows, or closing if key held in open or closed position for about 5 seconds. If you have had a flood in that compartment the guts of that box may well be shot, just helped my mate with his and it was green inside and well shot, don't buy from ford as your looking at £300/£400. Ebay £ 40 + postage. -
I would check door wiring, usual culprit breaks in gator.

I have a Mk1 2.3 Ghia X with LPG conversion, the engine has done 251,000 miles and still goes on strong. Apart from usual wear out items I've had no problems with the engine, with lpg at 60p a litre every time I top up my lpg tank (£25) I've saved £25ish. -
One of the fans on my V6 has seized, It was just a general question to see if I could swap and change between other models. Thank you for the reply tho Brian.

I did a visit to scrap yard and cut out wires from inside door pillars makes life easy as same color code and same current handling capacity. Don't forget to do rear hatch as same problem there, mine were a mess so again visit to yard for wire and joined inside rear pillar and in rear hatch.
