  1. Thanks Brian, no effect of moving dimmer switch, and light switch is working normally, apart from console and cluster. Think I might have knocked the dimmer control slightly with my hand? At first thought it would be bulbs, but seems unlikely that all would go at same time? I'm not good with cars, but would it be feasible to get behind dimmer switch and try bypassing it?
  2. Oh, and my console is not working either - could this be a dimmer switch problem?
  3. Hi, the ligthts on my instrument cluster on my 2002 tdi Galaxy have suddenly stopped working. All the instruments seem to be working fine, but just can't see them at night. Thought it might be a fuse, but my Galxy handbook has the radio and parking sensor on the same fuse and they are fine.Any sugestions? Thanks
  4. thanks for all the advice. I bought an intermotor sensor for
  5. Thanks for the help. For info I looked around for the best price for two KYB springs, and best on ebay was
  6. Second problem I have at the moment on my 2002 galaxy is a broken front spring. Seems best to replace both - any advice on brands? I am thinking of KYB but Suplex are a bit cheaper..any experience of either of these?
  7. hmn, interesting - thanks for all this advice - problem is that though I can do everything with houses, cars have passed me by, and am dependent on the mechanic. I'll put all this to him to see what he says. Ford charge over
  8. Thanks - the mechanic says that the CV joint has rusted (and swollen) and is pushing the ring, if that makes sense, and so it needs a new CV joint and sensor. He also advises against the cheap sensors. If that makes sense where is the best place to source them cheaply?
  9. Thanks..the mechanic plugged his snap on detection thing in, and it said a front offside sensor problem, but he seems to be unsure after having a good look - he did say the ring was very rusty...
  10. Eventually got around to tackling this problem, and just pulled out top end of the rubber gaitor on right hand side of the tailgate, and pulled it back to expose the wires - found one broken and simply reconnected them - fiddly, but end of problem! Hopefully this may help others with a similar problem!
  11. The ABS light comes on sometimes on my 2002 galaxy. At first no problems, then when braking gently when slowly coming to a stop I can feel the ABS kicking in under my feet -guess front offside. But that only seems to happen when the warning light is off, and not when the light is on. Had a mechanic look at it and he is not sure if it is the sensor or the pump. I know the pump is expensive! I would appreciate any advice...thanks
  12. So guess I need to undo the assemby at the bottom of the tailgate, and see if I can work out which gaiter at the top the wires go through, and see if I can locate them in the pillar..suppose the wire colours should guide me - I'm pretty new to this as you can probably tell! There seem to be access squares on each side of the door card..not sure how they come off?
  13. OMG..it worked! Unbelievable..thanks! Much appreciated..But..still won't work with central locking..Should I just carry on using it like that or can I repair it? I can hear a whirring noise when it is open and I lift the handle up..
  14. Tailgate has jammed on my 2002 galaxy - the central locking elsewhere is working fine, and can be operated from the tailgate, but can't feel the usual click when trying to open it. Any suggestions?
