  1. I would recheck the aux fuse box in the engine bay,these are common as the terminals are a poor quality on how they crimp,they can cause weird issues on the electrical system,check for any signs of the terminals getting really hot,especially the main feed ones and if they get too hot they will melt the fuse box itself!
  2. Had to do the same to mine last yr,cost me 40 quid,must be common as went to view a 52 plate yesterday and that had same problem,and all the usual problem areas like front to rear brake pipes,must be getting good with these now! Lol
  3. Yah 6000 supports changer,have worked out must be changer that's knackered,have tried 2 units on it with no joy, seller gave me a refund anyway so not out of pocket

My current car,a mk2 2.3 has been very good to us,yes it's 14 yrs old so it's had a few parts in the 2 years that I've owned it but they were just age related stuff,I've been very happy with it and it's been very reliable,compared to our mk2 Alhambra pd previously That came up with constant issues,I would say they ok until something goes wrong,Maybe as I'm used to ford petrol engines and not diesel I'm biased but as I don't use my car during the week as a have a company van,the fuel economy has never bothered me,I probably get around 28 round town and 35 on a run.

Can any1 tell me if there is an independent fuse to supply the changer that sits in the cubby at the back of the mk2, i have a standard 6000 cassette unit fitted in the dash and I've bought a changer as all the leads were there but must have been taken out by a previous owner,however there doesn't seem any power to it and I've spoken to the seller who assures me it was tested before selling. Unless it's a faulty unit I'm at a loss,any ideas guys??
  6. Bought for my mk2 but am selling car as no longer required,comes with the wiring plugs and I did see them working off the guy I bought them from,looking around £50 pair,also have a climate control panel which I bought thinkin mine was knackered but turns out it was the aircon pump. Thanks

Mot jan 16,passed with no advisories,recently put a new starter relay on her,17" alloys with good tyres,all the usual ghia extras,air on can be temperamental,Alhambra mirrors,alhambra sports springs,new starter motor,new front shocks,new genuine lower arms,drop links and anti-roll bar bushes,new internal door handles(original ones were scratched to Fck),spent a fortune putting on the later chrome grill and rear lights,genuine 83000 miles,I've only done 6000 miles in it in 2 years,only selling as I'm about to lose my company van and I need a diesel.

Hi all,am selling my 2001 mk2 ghia 2.3 due to upgrading,has had a full mk2a upgrade kit and loads of new partssince I've owned it,basically running Alhambra suspension,17" alloys with excellent tyres,new front shocks,brakes all round,in excellent condition,few scratches here and there but nothing major,looking for around £1200 thought I would offer it on here before I put it on flea bay.   12. had 2 of these now,tdi alahambra and 2.3 galaxy,alhambra never really gave me no trouble till the head gasket went,me galaxy has had gearbox mounts,top mounts,arms,starter motor,fuse box,brakes,front shocks,also i changed to alhambra springs as i found them to give a firmer ride!!! yh its the tiptronic box i want to knw about,the wife just passed her test and now she wants an auto so looks like im changin it,as far as im aware as long as theve been looked after there fine,check fluid changes and gearbox services etc,

  14. hi all,im thinkin of trading my 2001 2.3 for a later tdi auto galaxy and i want to know wat sort of issues i should watch out for,iv heard all sorts of things about these and i just want to know for myself wat problems they come with???? many thanks
  15. hi all,can any of you guys tell me where the air con relay is located on my mk2 2.3 ghia,according to the manual it should be in pos.4 but there no wiring there for it,it was working till friday and no im gettin nothin from it,has any1 got any ideas????? thanks
  16. update,as of today the aircon is no longer clickin in/out,thinkin the relay is knackered but no idea how to test.......any ideas peeps?????
  17. i was daft to mention it really,was thinkin about it afetr i wrote it,shame ford never came up with a 6-speed for this engine!!!
  18. iv asked this question a few times as i have a mk2 2.3,havnt been able to find an answer tho,however sum1 on another forum said the 6 speed box from a st170 focus is similar to that of ours,but at this time am not able to confirm that it is,cud try 1 from a sharan/alhambra 1.8t,but wud vw box fit a ford????????????
  19. yh my mistake,it was the link to the main fuse box that was getting hot,as i work for a electrical wholesaler we keep all the terminals on the shelf,ive put a new 1 on this morning with some heat shrink and it seems to have done the job,might do the alternator feed to be on the safe side!!! on a different note would you be able to recommend a decent fault code diagnostic/reader as there seems a few for sale on ebay and i dont know wether to buy the software for my laptop or a reader???? thanks
  20. thanks mate,on mine according to the manual the second wire is the alternator,but using that guide i know wat i need to do

  22. update......fitted a new aux fuse box and seems everythin is workin now,aircon works then goes off then will click back in again randomly,however the feed for the alternator from said fuse box is gettin hot,so hot you cant touch it,should this be normal?????

  24. according to the display it has dual aircon but mine is an early mk2 w/o roof vents,iv had it working today nut abit of a mystery as to y,seems to only work for a short period of time,i can here the pump kicking in and out so it works for say 2-3 minutes,then cuts off for a few and then back on again,also i hav noticed that the engine fusebox the alternator terminal is way too hot to the point that its melted the suuround on the fusebox,im wondering if this could be at fault as iv heard they a common problem,other than tht im at a loss??????
