  1. Steve 123, I was thinking about buying this VAG cable from GSF car parts, Ebay site, UK delivery and Driver & Shareware VAG-COM v409.1 Included on CD & VCDS-Lite via download. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280905235590?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_3084wt_1209
  2. The engine is fitted with an immobiliser which allows the engine to turn over but not run without the chip being present in the key. My key fell apart when I opened the door at my local garden centre and the chip fell out. I managed to find the chip and when held next to the key in the ignition I could start the car, however to keep the engine running the chip had to be near the key. I believe the chip has to be present to complete an electric circuit to a fuel solenoid valve, without the circuit the solenoid remains closed and there is no fuel flow to the engine. (Seat Alhambra 1.9 TDI)
  3. I agree sounds like a turbo problem with the symptoms you describe other reasons for black smoke could be as follows: Black Smoke Black smoke emitting from your exhaust is due to a air to fuel ratio imbalance. This occurs when the diesel fuel system is delivering either too much fuel into the engine or there is not enough air. Below are some ideas of what is causing your vehicle to emit black smoke:- * Faulty Diesel Injectors * Dirty Air Filter * Faulty Diesel Pump * Valves clogged within cylinder head due to EGR being faulty. * Intercooler or Turbo Charger faulty Information found at this site http://www.dieseljones.co.uk/troubleshoot-a-diesel-engine.html
