Pepper Red replied to Pepper Red's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi and thanks for the reply, it was a combination of a sticky cable and caliper hand brake mechanism After liberaly spraying both I managed to free it off and it seems fine now By the way I purchased the discs and pads from the people you said they were spot on and a great price. Cheers -

Caliper Carrier Bolts Mk 2
Pepper Red replied to Pepper Red's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi thanks for the reply -
Hi all,Just finished changing front and rear pads and discs on my Mk 2 and I thought I would let you know that the front Caliper carrier bolts are 27mm but the back one's are 18mm not 19mm like a lot of people have mentioned in the past.! All went pretty well apart from the back ones that were really covered in crud, but after a good clean with WD and brake cleaner and the proper winding tool I managed to get them done with the hepl of a really patient mate.! But,and theres allways a but,I noticied that the rear offside brake was not holding much on the hand brake,it's fine on the brake pedal but something's not right and when applying the hand brake you can see the cable move but not much. We think it's either the cable seized or the bit where the cable is connected to the caliper. Any one had the same problem and can the caliper be serviced to remedy this.? Thanks in the meantime

Wheel Nut Torque Settings Mk2
Pepper Red replied to Pepper Red's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi and thanks for this -
Hi I tried to undo the wheel nuts on my MK2 Galaxy Ghia 130bph TDI but had no joy as they were just too tight on the front having recently had 2 front tyres fitted. All I want to do is check the calipers as one sometimes sticks. Can any one tell me the correct Torque settings as I have been told various figures,my plan is to go to the tyre place and get them to check they are at the correct setting. The other thing is that if they are on too tight how the heck are you expected to get them undone in the event of a flat.? Just to add that it's got the original alloys on. Thanks

Hi guys youv'e got me worried now. I checked my power steering fluid level on Friday and it needed a bit to top it up.So I went to CAS where I usually go and they gave me Comma AQ3 red semi sinthetic oil. But today I read some post on here that it should be green in colour and not to mix with any thing else. The colour in my Galaxy is similar to fresh engine oil,in my Focus I had before it was the same,I never gave it a second thought before now as when I checkd the level on Friday it was the new engine oil colour. I only put a small amount in and I have just syphoned some out to check and its the same new engine oil colour. I am really stuck now on what to do and also annoyed that there is no sticker near the filler to warn what oil to use. I know it's a stupid school boy error but should I get the system drained to be sure and is this something I could do myself.? Humbly many thanks for reading this.

Knew I Shouldn't Have Bought An Auto...
Pepper Red replied to BridgeyBoy's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi Dave, I recently watched a Wheeler dealers where they had a Range Rover with an auto box that was sticking through the gears, all they did was drain the auto box fluid and replace with new oil and clean the strainer. The old oil was really nasty and this cured the problem. Hope this helps and I would check this first. -
Hi and Happy Easter to all, I own a 2003 MK2 Galxaxy TDI Ghia,I find it very comfortable and the seats better than the mk3 I hired last year The only thing is when no one else is sitting in her the head restraints rattle due to the crap condition of some roads in the UK and it's really annoying Has any one got the same problem and or solved It.? Thanks

Hi, If any of you live in Buckinghamshire,Bletchley to be exact, I can honestly say Fenny Garage is the only one I send my family and friends to. I have used this garage for years and it's a small indipendant one with honest well trained mechanics who are allways willing to help and offer advice regarding any make or model. They will even stamp your service book for any work they carry out. I have nothing to gain from this,I just think credit where credit is due as there are lots of cowboys out there. Their contact details are: Fenny Garage Unit 7 Grove Ash Mount Farm Bletchley MK1 1BZ Tel: 01908 376777 ;)

Hi and many thanks for the info. -
Hi, I would like to give my 53 TDI 1.9 Galaxy an oil change, and as this is my first Galaxy can any one reccomend a make and either part or fully sinthetic.? The book states SAE 5W/30 and a certain Ford spec. but I have seen various oils that claim to either meet or exceed Ford specs. Thanks
