:wacko: :lol: :) :) :) found the problem the selector bolt hadn't sheared off it worked itself loose and fell out, managed to get the stray bolt out with a magnet on some wire, just need to get a new bolt and possibly selector shaft hopefully once its back together all will be ok :) thanks again for all the advice given

Hiya thanks for all your fast replies, its a manual gearbox and like i previously stated the cables all seem to be connected both ends, ive moved the selecter on the gearbox (which moves the gearstick also) and there doesn't seem to be anything happening beyond it :) (hope thats clear and understandable)

the other day my partner got into the car reversed went to drive forward and nothing !! the gear stick is sloppy and will not select any gears at all the clutch seems ok i've checked the linkage cables and the are connected both ends any suggestions ?? suppose to have had a recon gearbox around 30k miles ago. thanks in advance for any information given
