Ok solved the problem, there are two fuses one is 20amp for the permanant live and one for the switch live which is fuse 31. This had blown as it was only 3 amps. I checked all the 10amp and 5amp ones as did not expect it to be so low. Have replaced with a 5amp and all seems to be good now. Thought I would post this in case anyone else had the same issue. :)

Hi the head unit works fine if i connect both yellow and red to yellow but it is always on so will run battery down. The fuse on the headunit is fine and i can find no fuse for the ignition live.

I fitted a new stereo to my mk 2 Galaxy 2005. It worked for about 30mins then went off and now there is no power on the ignition lead. It still has power on the permanat live and no fuses have blown. I cannot understand what has happended. ;)

Hi thanks for the info, every where is shut today so will hopefully get one tomorrow. Could not find it on either of those websites is it called a fuse box?

Hi was out the other evening strong smell of burning then on Xmas Eve alternator workshop light came on. Have searched forum and found this common fault fuse box burnt had a look and the first lead in the box has melted and come away. I have read all the posts and have two questions 1) Which cable do I also need to replace and can I just cut some off? 2) Why has this happended it seemed to coincide with putting the heated screen on but I have used this lots of times in the past. Thanks
