Thanks for the info. Will have to get my mechanic to look. seems a bit too complicated for me (im strictly nuts and bolts not diagnosing) as i dont know where these parts are. thanks again for your time.

Fidly to get off, but managed it( with allen keys and tork set). Very clogged up.Cleaned it.Could move the valve up, so assumed it was ok to replace.Did so but still black smoke coming from exhaust, but not so laboured in lower gears.Should i have bought a new valve? Or is smoke from debris still left in tubes? cheers.

thanks for that. so its the round unit immediately above the filler cap and behind the hose with gauze around it(heater hose??)

hi, new to this forum. heard slight bang then loss of power, juddering in lower gears and black smoke from exhaust. called aa. guy said it is the egr valve. what is this valve and where can i find it? is it fairly easy to replace? should i stop using car till its fixed? hope someone can help!!
