HEEEEEEEEEllo peeps my 1.9tdi seems to not have a heated front screen that works. the light comes on ans stay on for around 10 mins etc but screen when frosty stays frosty. read a bit in tech section on my old mk1 the screen connectores were either side of dash and behind interior light for earth. checked all this on my mk11 and no wires removed window pillar trims as well and nothing same with behind interior light so where are the bloody connectors please. i have checked the fuse box out and both fuses seem ok but till i find connectors i cant tell if i have a power feed or an earth. only wire i found was what i assume is areial wire down drivers windsreen pillar . and yes before anyone asks i do have a heated front screen i have nice wavy squigly bits in me glass ( my old mk1 broke screen and i had plain glass fitted as was not paying 400 quid for heated that didnt work. ok guys your help would be very valuable.

whilst it must be said that the air con problems on gals is almost 'inbuilt' i dont think it is really fair to lay the blame for this at the door of good old Henry , remember till mk111 these vehicles are just about rebadged vw/audi stable mates and the problem should really be laid at their door. When a problem occurs in life after a few repeats we modify the item or do it adifferent way to avoid the problem but it seems to me that despite bucket fulls of problems all the same that they have just been swept it under the carpet instead of dealing with it in a responsible way. Typical of todays modern mass produced car production. lets face it the problems with these cars dont just stop at air con does it. and yet despite the many problems we all encounter from thime to time ( mainly all the time) what do we do when our beloved beastly Galaxy comes to the end of its life WE BLOODY WELL GO AND BUY ANOTHER ONE are we all totally mad, no i think we do it for the comradery this forum provides , we unite in our grief lol then again we could all go and buy a Kia Sedona!!!!!!!!! or a Zafira!!!!!!!! or a Voyager !!!!!!! Na, stick to what we know best.   B) B) B)

Parking Sensors (galaxy 1.9tdi)
arryp0tter replied to lee34628's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
yes check sensors and also check to see if your rear washers work if not then your rear screen wash pipe has come adrift and you may have flooded the under seat compartment if so then sensor control unit may be fried this advise carries no responsibility but check all the above thoroughly you can test sensors with vag-com. -
there is a super family orientated camp/ caravan site just outside Great Yarmouth called Rose Farm touring Park it is wizzo go to ukcamp .co.uk and see reviews or go direct to site webpage:- www.rosefarmtouringpark.co.uk ( i created and maintain the site and have camped there for the last 6 years you wont regret a visit.) happy camping we have a Jamet Arizona trailer tent pulled by 1.9tdi gal

Vehicle Specific Towbar Wiring
arryp0tter posted a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
:) hi folks this may be a silly question Have recently put a new towbar on my 2002 tdi gal just fitted normal towbar wiring and all is fine with life no probs at all. I was wondering what, if any, fitting a vehicle specific connection kit would make . At present there is nothing other than indicator buzzer to say i have anything connected to the back end. your thoughts please. -
hellopeeps isnt it annoying when your battery goes flat or you disconnect it by mistake and you loose your radio coding or you buy a car with no code well i found a handy little code finder and it works on the ford M series radio ( well seems ok with mine) i bought my gal with no code and wanted to get one for free. i downloaded this prog entered my Mcode of top of radio and it gave it to me i ran this test repeatedly over 2 days and evrytime i got the same code so it is good i think so before i go any further would someone who knows there code anyway give it a try see what happens the prog is here http://rapidlibrary.com/index.php?q=ford+radio+code if you use windows vista you will need to add a missing dll file to system32 but thats easy to find. the prog just gives a radio front enter the Mcode, select the 5 button and radio code will be given try it see what happens please.

Hello people i bought a vagcom lead and disc other week from fleabay finally found enough time to install it today and test it on my nagging parking sensor problem ( see previous posts) well had few probs initially setting it up but hey i got it working and there was quite a list for the parking sensors but then things went sour . All of the faults listed suddely went blank and i then got a message that the vag program had stopped working. When i rebboted everything i could not get things to work. Now having read the read me file on the disc as i am a vista user i need to use the vsta driver however whilst there is a vista driver on the disc there is no way of installing it. 2 questions as all else on laptop is fine i am assuming my vag prob is down to incompatability ie vista driver not downloaded. or does the installation auto select the driver cos it knows you have vista? i have vag com 409.1 version for my 2002 1.9tdi is there anywhere ( hooky or other) where i can obtain a full version of vagcom without shelling out dollars ( am poor dont work as severe diabetic with problems cant work) am i barking up the write tree with this or should i re install vagcom for the 3rd time and try again. ok enough gabbling but all input welcome

Yet Another Parking Sensor Test For You
arryp0tter replied to arryp0tter's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
thanks for your input Mirez and again from what i have read regarding these sensors ( found a very good reasoning on a bmw site ( apparently some use the same sensors) the frequency thing is logical i have me a vag=com just not round to firing it up yet so maybe i will install it and give it a road test thanks for the help i enjoyed a wasted afternoon in the sun putting my tests into action lol You can't make the assumption they are all working just because you get a voltage on the signal line as you don't know what you are measuring there. If its an analogue signal it could be putting a "dead" signal out in the low Hz which would show as a voltage, and a "healthy" signal of faster Hz would still show a voltage of similar reading. Without knowing exactly what the sensor sends, measuring a voltage from it is almost irrelevent. I wouldn't ignore the "check for tick" suggestion as that will tell if the sensor is actually doing anything, VagCom would tell you if you have a sensor gone though, and more importantly it would tell you which one(s). That said my own reasoning would probably lead to to conclude the same as you that the controller is defective. -
here i am yet again today , no i am not making a take over bid lol just keep reading FAQ's and finding faults i never new i had i read the fix for adjustable headlamp motors and grease etc and decided to do my gal as they dont work got the offside workin a treat but when came to nearside i dont have a powerfeed at all to the headlamp for the motor so anyone any idea where it comes from have checked all the obvious things inc fuses lol but to no avail so once again any ideas appreciated

ok short and sweet read in the FAQ's regarding MAF testing on a 1.9tdi unplugged it and sure enough not a blind bit of diffrence in running but when i came to remove the MAF to take a peek/replace it i came up against a weirdo the two screws that retain the MAF are of the torx variety and of the security type ( which i have a big set of) but, and this is the odd bit the torx only has 5 stars instead of 6 and im b*ggered if i can shift them with anything as there aint a lot to grab a hold of any help guys and gals please :P

:P right here we go i recently bought a 2002 1.9tdi at a bargain price i might add but have spent a bucket already, anyway back to the story. i have the usual parking sensor problem, engage reverse both buzzers go off continually for around 10 seconds then cut out and light on switch flashes continually to indicate a fault. heres where it gets interesting. i have ignored the 'check for a tick' from the sensor to see if its working. i have stripped the front and the rear of the car established that there is a pwer feed to eachsensor ( red wire) there is an earth to each sensor ( brown) and that there is a 'signal' being sent from the sensor when plugged in this being on average around 9.5 volts each sensor has its own wire colour front and rear for the signal wire. anyway this information tells me there is a signal coming out of each sensor so THEY MUST ALL BE WORKING would you agree on this ok i hope you do . now i have also had the standard issue from Fraud with the parting of the rear screen wash pipe ( this was found to be open upon purchase ( one of the first thing i checked having had a flood regularly on my old mk1 ) so it is unknown how long this had been leaking for asume ages . i am thinking that despite there being no obvious signs of water damagethat the unit is indeed toasted. I have not checked to see what is coming in to the unit as there are too many wires and you just cant get to them all to get a voltage reading with this info would anyone like to hazard an educated guess at my diagnosis I NEED A NEW UNIT LOL thanks in anticipation for the generous help this is THE best ford help forum going.

hi frogeye i had a 96 2ltr and blew it up sold it on fleabay bought a 2002 mk11 i let my old gal go in the belief that towbars were not compatable but when i bought the new bar it was exactly the same as the old one what a bugger i wasted 100 quid so yes mk1 and 11 are compatable on mk11 they have dne away with specific plug other than that same amte though bumper removal different on mk11 if ya need help ask have fun

Hello peeps i bought me a 2002 1.9tdi recently with a dead air con i think it may be dead as one of the pipes of the compressor is kind of sheared off lol, my question is two fold really:- 1 the pipe broken is the one that ends up going along the drivers side chasis leg to the baulk head, i cant feel a joint but the Fraud dealer shows me on his micro fische that this pipe is in deed jointed , is this correct and is it an easy seperation 2 as the compressor has been 'open to the atmosphere' for an unknown length of time, is it posible it could be scrap anyway 3 assuming that all the negatives are positive is it worth spending money on a system that seems to be rubbish anyway having read so much about air con on here i am begining to doubt it is worth throwing any money at.

Water In The Passenger Foot Well
arryp0tter replied to Melleru's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
sounds like the drains are blocked remove the card tray from under the bonnet if you follow the ledge at the back to where it meets the inner wing you will find a square rubber flap on either side ensure they are clear ( i ripped mine out) ensure no debris is left n top of the ledge water will build up if these drains are blocked and then pours through where the pollen filter sits into the car usually by this stage the water is also stagnant and makes your car stink aweful its a bit of a pain but get that bonnet up and go for it while yout there you may as well check the pollen filter and replace as it will be contaminated and will smell into the car in hot weather good luck hope this sorts your problem -
I think it should. I read somewhere that the key should flash five times and the driver's door led should flash six times. On mine the key does but the door doesn't. Been like it for years. Tried the procedures documented but door LED is just continuously lit and then goes out after a number of seconds. Is this something that can be reset using VAG COM? I've bought VAG COM from ebay to hopefully reset the airbag light as the MOT testing station said they would refuse to retest it if I didn't get it sorted even though it isn't part of the MOT. lock the door unlock the door 3 times within 5 seconds each time hold for at least 1/2 second light on door will flash remove key from door press and hold lock button and at same time press unlcok button 3 times all this within 5seconds the light on door will flash to say ok keep tryin till it works key is fine as engine runs, transponder is talking to computer ad vice versa if engines runs but cuts after about 10 second then transponder could be down .
