hi baz,i got a vagcom meter off ebay and it reads the faults ok on my 52 galaxy tdi.didnt cost much if i remember about 20 quid i think.type in vagcom.also my rear washer was separated and made a good click when i fixed it but i wrapped it with tape as well.carpet was soaking so dry with heat gun on low.had airbag light come on so gave it to autolecs and also to fix sensors.was a sensor gone on back bumper fitted new one and ok now.my switch used to light up and bleep once and then nothing.air bag light just needed resetting they said.all ok noexcept heated screen not working.will get it done one day.hope this helps a bit.

Rattle From Drivers Door Or Dash Area?
jinksy replied to tpurch's topic in What thing irritate you about your Galaxy
i had rattle from drivers side by door.drove me nuts as i couldnt stop it and i hate rattles.turned out its the plate or whatever its called under the fusebox door by your right foot.i was chuffed when i found it as i thought it was in the door or in the dash somewhere and it would be a pig to find.i pushed it up with my hand and it went away.its come back once or twice but when i mess about with that metal piece it goes again.one day i,ll get down on my knees to see if i can permenantly stop it.jinks -
How To Avoid Aircon Problems?
jinksy replied to 2004AUY85kwTDI's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
hi chrispb123456,i had to replace the compressor on my 52 reg tdi as when i bought it aircon wasnt working and return pipe had split so hadnt been used for a while i guess.other than if front window needs demisting i keep cimate control on all the time as it lubes the compressor and no difference in consumption anyway that ive noticed.i love my gal i have to say.she drives great and everything works as it should now aircon repaired.cost a bit though for new pipe and recon compressor but i like things to work properly.jinks. -

Lets Us Know What You Think Of Yours
jinksy replied to jkspoff's topic in What thing irritate you about your Galaxy
yes i,d buy another galaxy.i love mine its a lovely drive and very versatile.ive only had it 3/4 months and had to put a few things right like aircon not working.new cambelt and full service and just had parking sensors sorted so ive spent a few hundred on her but the service and cambelt i,d have had done to any second hand car i bought so i dont count that really.needed new compressor for climate control and new pipe and regas which cost me about 500 odd altogether but i had it for a tidy price anyway.rear washer wasnt working but i fixed that myself as it was the usual problem.carpet needed drying on passenger side where washer had leaked.all in all she,s lovely and in good nick .i only bought it to get me back and fo to work and take my dog out but i use it more than the 08 focus weve got.some times its worrying when you read of all the problems on this forum but you can expect a few when you buy a used car of 8/9 years old i suppose.not long part exchanged a zafira for the focus and this galaxy is a nicer drive and more miles and 4 years older.i think i prefer the mark 2 like mine to the new shape galaxy.heated screen not working so that may be next job to sort out. -
hi shuttlebasher,i had same trouble when i had mine a few months ago.rear wash didnt work at all so i messed around a bit and then left it.saw on here the problem and as you say the floor was soaking when i took carpet up and washer pipe had come apart at join.why they didnt put a pipe all the way through i dont know.anyway it took ages to dry it out with heat gun on low and put some tape around join and alls ok now.this s club has saved me some money a few times as theres allways good advice.beware if you change the battery in your keyfob that the chip doesnt fall out as it does.the car wont start and run only starts and cuts out.i found my chip on the floor after reading advice seatkid had given.me and the mrs were on hands and knees for ages looking.i,d never have known i,d lost the little chip from in the corner.beware if you put new battery in! i love my gal though she,s a lovely drive.

hi al, heated screen not working as i thought.air bag warning came on so i took to local autolecs and they checked screen.need to have it for a day as they didnt have time to do it then so i,ll book it in when i get a chance.ade.
-
thanks seatkid,i dont think mine works as i had the blower going on windscreen for a while.i could see the rear one working but the front didnt seem to.although the light was on in the switch.
-
hello all,i used the heated screen this morning as it was iced for first time since i had my gal.it didnt seem to clear it i think it was the blower that did it.the light came on in the switch but when i use the rear heated element i can see the lines where its working.is it slow heating up or is it supposed to clear the screen quickish?anyone know?heater is slow to warm up and i,m in work by the time its blowing warm on cold mornings.dreading the really cold mornings.
-
hi all,my heated screen doesnt seem to work.light on dash comes on but this morning was iced and didnt seem to thaw with heated screen unless its very slow?heater is great when warm but it takes ages to warm up.about 5 miles and still only 1/4 up temp gauge.sat there for a while with blower on full to screen before i could see enough.back window leaves lines when on but nothing with front.anyone know if it should?cheers, jinks.
-
hi, i couldnt find mine either what a place to put it.on my mark 2 its on the drivers side right down behind the bonnet hinge.mines satin silver no 25.got paint for passenger door which has a dent.ade.
-
hi taxidave,i just bought a vagcom off ebay and had the same problem at first.it said no link.but i didnt have the key on did you.ok with ignition on.jinks.

Engine Starts Then Stalls
jinksy replied to dadstaxi's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
hi dadstax,it does sound like the chip in your key.i changed the battery in mine and when i tried to start it it was doing exactly the same thing.fired straight away but cut out.it was only on this site and thanks to "seatkid"s post that i realised the chip had fallen out.me and the mrs. were on our hands and knees for ages but luckily i found it and put back in and was perfect.could you have dropped the chip somehow?have you had your key apart for any reason? -
hi jazz,i got a 52 galaxy and its wet under the passenger seat.common fault i read on here.its the rear washer i believe.the pipe runs below the seat and it splits apparantly? when i first had my gal the parking sensors worked but rear washer didnt.i was playing around trying to make washer work but no luck.since then sensors dont work.read on here the pipe splits under passenger seat and wets control unit.i looked and its soaking.i manage without now.dont know about your cetral locking though mines ok except it goes off when alarm set so i just click key twice and it doesnt activate the internal sensor and wont go off in night and wake street up.hope you get it sorted.
-
cheers redcup yes thats the one mate.its snapped and held together with a piece of rubber.its ok but i like things to be right..i,ll have to pop into fords and order one i guess.also mines developed the same fault with the parking sensors and the rear washers not working.checked below passenger seat and its wet down there.i,m guessing the rear washer tube is leaking and has knackered the box.lots of people on here got same problem, flashing switch, beep for a few seconds and then nothing.i,l have to check the sensors tomorrow for clicks but as its wet i fear the worse.fitted a rear mirror on back window like the toyotas and its great, dont really need sensors now.jinksy.
-
no its silver.i dont really mind the steel ones but i,m afraid the insurance may use it as an excuse if i need to make a claim?ive now looked on parker site and it shows that it should have 5 spoke alloys.may bide time and get set off ebay.thanks for all your replies and advice.ade.
