  1. possible could be the chip that started the problem, and i do have a heavy right foot. the old girl does not get an easy life with me. i go everywhere at 85 mph on motorways. so its possible its my own doing. shes running like a new one again so i'm contented with it at the minute.just lucky i did all the work myself and saved a small fortune.
  2. hi just an update to my problem of overheating as i have now cured it. but it cost be
  3. well i'm still in the same boat, so far fitted all temp sensors, pressure cap, expansion bottle, thermostat - twice, flushed system - twice, stripped and checked water pump, stripped car to check radiator and still it gets hot and pumps the coolant out when you are on the motorway, its perfect round town. next i am going to buy 1 gallon of super unleaded and a box of matches i have been told this will fix it ^_^ if i ever fix it i will let you all know as a lot of people are having the same problem.
  4. i have my galaxy chipped and when i drive it i get about 44MPG my wife gets 50-52 MPG but only when i have my performance chip switched on. when it is off i get about 35 MPG and she gets about 42MPG. i was amazed that not only do i get more power with the chip but more fuel econemy as well :D
  5. i have just fitted a new centre and rear exhaust boxs myself cost me
  6. no sign of any leak from it and it does not use any water except when it boils, i think i am on the right track with it know, i hope so i will pressure test it tomorrow and let you know.
  7. i had the same problem it is the alternator pully, took me ages to find it on mine
  8. hi raymac i have already removed the water pump its the cast iron fin type and theres no wear on it, i have also fully checked the thermostat to see that it opens at the correct temp. it is driving me nuts at the minute  i drove 165 miles yesterday at 75mph using the cruise control and the temp stayed dead centre on the gauge. as i came back home i increased speed(say no more) and it started to get hot and then all the way over on the gauge and the red flashing light again. i stopped and it had pumped the water out of the expansion bottle. i am wondering if it is a hose or fault on the expansion bottle somewhere that is only showing up when it gets hot, thjere for not being pressurised and instantly boiling i am checking the system tomorrow with a pressure tester will let you know. thanks again everyone :D
  9. Thanks i am grateful for any suggestions, as i am at the point of getting the head skimmed this week and a new head gasket, as i have run out of ideaswith it. a few people have have had the same problem on this site but with no luck as of yet, so that will be my job today i will check all the hoses, thanks again
  10. i soughted the problem of the none working rear fan, believe it or not it was not configered to work through the "pcm" took my car to work put "wds" on it and it was configered for front heater only not the rear. now it works perfectly. also cleared the other 6 fault codes that where there retested and no faults now recorded. the hext problem is the random boiling coolant on long journeys
  11. hi all my problem is that my rear interior heating fan will not work near the n/s/r wheel arch, i have the electronic climate control unit fitted, front fan works perfectly but not the rear fan. can anybody tell me what fuse if any i need to check or could it be a relay problem.i am also have a problem with overheating when underload or going on a long journey, never over heats round town just on the motorway, i have changed the thermostat, checked water pump and radiator for blockage all ok, just stumped on this one.
  12. i had the same problem one spindle seized solid, i could not get it shifted and it broke !! full new units from ford
  13. hi i had the same problem, it was low pressure in the air conditioning system, thats why it started to flash. it turned out i had a leak so fixed that and regassed and air conditioning then worked perfectly. but the climate control display will still flash unless you remove the fault code with a vag-com. i hope this helps
  14. when your climatecontrol dash flashes for 15 secs on first switching on then it has low pressure and has registered a fault code on the system and it will not stop till it is cleared even if you regass and it works perfectly, never had a flashing dash that stopped its self :(
  15. auto is used to keep the vehicle at a given temp by using the heating and aircon systems. econ is just that it will switch off when not needed and restart when the temp is higher or lower then the setting.
  16. if the climatecontrol panel flashes then you have low pressure in your aircon system, its a case of find the leak if there is one, regass and the connect a vagcom and clear the fault code all done. :(
