  1. the mrs just got in and said that the ignition barrel on our 02 Mk2 1.9tdi was a bit too 'sensitive', and it was also making a noise when running. I went out and started the car and it seemed ok - however when turning the key a little bit clockwise when running, the starter engaged and span with a loud noise. obviously not normal - but is it an ignition barrel thats the problem or the starter solenoid? car starts and runs fine.
  2. I have XLs fitted all round as reccomended on here. Only paid a few quid more.
  3. Im want some mk2 ghia clocks (the ones with the mpg readout etc on them) along with the associated stalk for selecting through the menus. I want one off a mk2, and it must be a manual transmission, and 1.9 diesel is a bonus but i dont think essential. thanks paul.
  4. as per title, just bought it and used it for 10 mins to change the pulley on a PD engine. handy for a garage or business if you havent got one. SX400 http://www.justoffbase.co.uk/Alternator-Freewheel-Pulley-Removal-Set-6pc-SX400-Sealey
  5. How much for one full interior collected? thanks paul.
  6. Nice on thanks, ill take a look. I think ill just try and find a decent set of Ghia clocks then, im not that fussed about volts and a sump sender. Our clocks have a small crack in the bottom for some reason so i was looking to change them anyway :) Off to the classified section it i then, thanks for the help. Paul.
  7. Hi there, im paul and we have an 02 PD engined galaxy. Im just north of Glasgow, i also have a full version of vagcom if anyone needs s scan up here in exchange for beer :(
  8. Hey mate, thanks for the reply - appreciate it. It certainly would be a great upgrade from my point of view. I also have a full version of vagcom so im hoping that i can correct mileage on any new clocks (if it isnt done automatically) to what it should be. When you say i could need to wire the stalk to the clocks, is there anywhere i can find out how to do this just in case? I wouldnt know where to start with a wiring diagram to be honest. I noticed you retrofitted a sharan clock - is this the most technically sophisticated version available? I would prefer one with a digital readout of range, mpg, outside temp etc if possible. I had an A4 which had the same problem and just plugged and played for some of the newer clocks with no problems, so was hoping it would be simple. Good old VAG eh?
  9. i need to replace my alternator pulley as the clutch has failed, does anyone have a tool for sale in the glasgow area they have used and no longer need, or one i could hire? i have a full version of vagcom should this provide useful in exchange. thanks paul.
  10. Yeah as above ive only got one auxbelt. theres not a lot of room for more tbh. Thanks for the advice, im tempted to get it done by a garage too now ive seen i have to get the special tool. I suppose there would be a resale market for it once its done..
  11. I do all my own maintenence so ill have to have a look. Is it just the pulley actually on the alternator?
  12. occasionally i get a judder on the steering wheel coupled with the sound of the aux belt slipping. More so when the wheel is at full lock. From feeling the belt it feels tight enough, could it be that the pump is knackered? What sort of job is swapping the pump, is it straightforward or a swine? Im tempted to change the belt first just in case when its trying to get extra load when the steerings running its just slipping. If i rev a little more than idle it doesnt do it..
  13. Me and the wife have an 02 galaxy, a mk2 TDi LX. As we got the LX we didnt get a lot of bells and whistles and the main thing i miss the the MPG, range, temp etc etc. There is a space in the middle of the instrument cluster where it would usually be. Has anybody fitted a different cluster and the associated stalk and got it to work? i just wondered as when i connect with vcds, all the readings are there, so in theory all the sensors should be?
