Hi Stevemac, did you get an answer to this. I have a 57 Ghia. The manual says that the indicators flash once on the first press of the key but not on the second (for deadlocking). Ours, like yours, do not flash on the first press, but then they do on the second press.

I just got a mk3 and am hoping to do the same. Would welcome any advice if you did this?
