  1. Cheers for this Alan - I will have a gander now - makes logical sense now you mention it...
  2. Hi - hope you can possibly advise...My wife's Mark 1 Galaxy (V reg - 2000) is a 2.3 auto petrol. Gearbox was fine until yesterday when I got in and could not get the button on the gearstick to go in so I can move to 'drive' etc...After kicking the tyres and looking for fault lights etc (which there were not any) I pushed the brake pedal a bit harder a couple of times and 'presto' in went the gearstick button and off I went. The engine has started no problems every time and the car seems OK when going. When I stopped I had the same problem again. Incidentally I do have issues with the driver door wiring, where the windows and mirrors don't work, but don't think this is related. Any advice on test / checking is welcomed...Thanks.
  3. Thanks guys, appreciate your help. Been away all week so will get some gear together and have a go this weekend.. :-)
  4. Hi I am new to this and have just spent a couple of hours looking at what you guys have already sussed out. After stripping the door card and some of the area near the fuse box inside the car, I can't see where the door wiring loom connects inside the car. Does it terminate into the gator on the door pillar or is there a connecter further inside the car to allow the wiring loom to be completely disconnected? It is in such a difficult position to solder so removing would be much easier to do a good job and not have to do it twice (I hope!). I have looked at http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=10371 and it does look like the inner door pillar terminates the wires, is this correct, any other pics would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Scott.
