hi m8 got the car for 4 1/2 grand so cant complian bigger engine would have been nice but at that price im not bothered. PS. Galaxy has gone sold for 3K. Happy now can feed kids again.

Hi m8. Already booked it in for the recall to be done when they do the first service. How do you rate these new Puntos? I drove one for a week in Ireland recently when me and missus went away for our silver anniversary. It seemed a bit low on power but as its only a 1.2 nice and cheap to run. Build quality seems good and for a small hatchback there is a fair bit of room inside.

06 Grande Punto, 1.2,8k, Bolero red. No comments now people it will do me and missus and to drop off the odd kid here and there. Be nice not to have to remortgage every time something needs doing.

Hi m8. Have another look at yours, i have holes in the chassis on the other side to the bolt heads (one hidden by exhaust heat shield). It looks as though you can squirt wd40 in through there. Hope this helps.

Lets Us Know What You Think Of Yours
marty16610 replied to jkspoff's topic in What thing irritate you about your Galaxy
Hi all. I have had lots of probs with mine (see various posts), but this is the only car my wife feels safe in. We had a nasty accident a few years ago, car left the road on black ice and ended up against a tree stump on the edge of a 60/70 foot drop. We had 3 kids with us, youngest 6 weeks old and we all got without a scratch (god bless seat belts and baby seats). Since then my wife has white knuckle syndrome every time we come up to a junction or a bend. But in the Gal she is fine i think its cause we are higher up and she feels safer. We love our Gal and will definitely get another when the time comes -
I'm 15 mins from savacentre too. I drop kids at Prospect every day bet I've passed you on the road loads of times. Calcot is good for me as well
-
Dont pick a saturday when Reading are playing at home cause the M4 turns into a bigger car park than savacentre
-
Good point tiny, i will leave things as they are and not worry about it
-
ive just checked the pipe mentioned and its definately got a pinky red tint to it. I think i better change it to be on the safe side.
-
So basically red diesel is low quality  Cetane Number. "A percentage indicating the ignition quality of diesel fuels. It is actually a measure of a fuel's ignition delay. This is the time period between the start of injection and start of combustion (ignition) of the fuel. In a particular diesel engine, higher cetane fuels will have shorter ignition delay periods than lower cetane fuel" Red and white cant be the same else why dye good fuel and sell it at a loss :D
-
Hi all. Just to clarify one point, ITS NOT ME USING RED DIESEL IT WAS PREVIOUS OWNER !!! Ive been looking up on the web and what i found is that red diesel contains a higher level of sulphur than regular pump diesel hence more smoke. I gave the car a full service when i got it and have done the air/fuel filters again since. i will put some injector cleaner through to see if it makes a difference. peter312 - My missus is a BIG bon jovi fan and even has a smirk tattoo (on her arm)

Hi all. After many months of trouble free motoring i have found out a disturbing fact about the gal i bought. I bumped into the previous owner a while back and during our chat he told me he used to run the car on "cherry" diesel (red). This has got me wondering if this is why she smokes when i boot it, nearly failed last mot because of excessive smoke. Would any damage have been done to the cat ? and will using injector cleaner in the tank do any harm? . Car runs fine, good mpg, no power loss just lots of smoke under hard acceleration. Cheers guys and gals
