Hi guys just an update here I've looked into all the info you've given, so thanks for that, i've now taken the gal to a garage and they have now said that the ECU needs a remap as the gal as no error codes, but I'm not sure if a replacment ecu might be best then remap it... your input would be helpful.... thanks again.

Hi guys can any one help, I've got a lot of water in the inlet manifold which pours out when you undo the bolts holding it to the head, I dont think this is normal could the headgasket be gone? I'm losing water and its got tobe going in there some how in need of some help ( when you remove the inlet manifold does the water come from the water pump as there is a rubber gasket close to it)... many thanks

thanks for the reply's, when the problem is evident (i.e when it's warm) I have disconnected the maf and she will start better, although it idles irratically it wont cut-out until the maf is reconnected ,is it the maf or some thing else as I put a new maf on it 6 months ago was also told it could be the inlet manifold as you can tell I have no idea with this problem. when it comes to the fuel I thought it would misfire if the problem was with that.. Hi guys in need of a little help my 1999 mk1 2.3 ghia auto as trouble starting when the engine is warm, I've taken it for a diog, all he did was give the throttle body a clean and test the emissions all ok, I've looked at all the air pipes and renewed with new if needed I did see a pipe going into a pump think is called a piersburg secoundary air pump but their is only one pipe going to it can someone help with this as dont know if this is wright( will it cause the problem I'm getting if this is gone). I think this pump is for the cat warm up but not sure... parts fitted to my gal last year.... plugs, coilpacks, heater switch, new exhaust including cat and 02 sensor, new throttle sensor and secoundhand throttle body and new maf.. thanks and happy new year, steve

Ok had the gal put on the diog today and they found that the 02 sensor cable wasnt fitting in properly so I now have a galaxy that drive's like a dream, thanks to the guys for the help....

Ok this thing is a git looked at the mainfold it's new also looked at the brake one taken off cleaned it out same old problem , I'm going to have another diog done tomorrow....

Hi, guys n gals, ok I've been on here alot with this looked at lots of threads and still have a problem with the gal , the car is running lean (drinking fuel) underpowered at bottom end and as a slight chugging and loss of power when driving normaly, This is what as been replaced so far MAF, 02 SENSOR , THROTTLE BODY , SPEED SENSOR, TEMP SENDER, NEW EXHAUST SYSTEM AND CAT, PLUGS LEADS COILPACKS and I've removed/cleaned all vac pipes under bonnet EGR valves and air idler unit with the same problem it only does this when hot and then when you go to restart the car it will not start unless you keep the revs up for a coulpe of seconds then it will be ok . I have had the diog done and the code p1131 keeps coming up. Does anyone think I will need to remove the inlet to have a good look at it as this is the only thing i have'nt done yet or does the ecu need a reset or remap how can this be done?. Please Please Help this is driving me nuts now the car as only done 88500 miles... Many Thanks Steve...

HI, There thanks for that,but it's still droping the revs and cutting out when stopping i have now got a code reader from ebay that can read this model it's a u480 code reader and only cost

hi there would try your crankshaft sensor if you cant think of anythink else

thanks guys i believe the coil pack and leads are new and the plugs , i did get the maf unit and the car just cut out the seller did say i needed to put it on computer to reset, is this true or is he pulling my leg and could you please tell me what software i need as i have a elm device, all help needed as this is driving me nuts thanks again...

Hi guys newbie here can anyone help, my 2.3 gal has an intermitent promblem, the car seems to drive ok then has loss of power and seems to choke and the revs seem to drop, within seconds it's back to normal, this is the only thing wrong the car she's on a v reg and is the ghia x automatic model, any thoughts please.
