  1. right another update, i got it back from the garage, they couldnt fix it, but they did tell me that oil pressure was good and cooling working as it should so i took out the instrument cluster, took all the screws out heated up the soldering iron and removed the noisey thing, i can live with a light but the noise was seriously pissing me off. hey presto fault cured, no noise no light go figure at least i can drive the thing now
  2. yeah i tested the senders and they working fine, i'll have to wait till i get the car back now
  3. it didnt, i have had to admit defeat and let a mechanic look at it
  4. heres an update, i took out both oil pressure senders cleaned and replaced, no differance, i looked for a level sensor cant find one so assume it hasnt got one, i unplugged both pressure sensors and ran it, no differance, i cannot figure out where this silly computer gets its information from, lastly i have been told that unplugging the dash unit for 5 mins will do the trick, will let you know
  5. i have this happening now, there is lots of cases of this problem but no solutions, has any one got a clue as to how to cure it please, its either that or scrap the thing and get another espace
  6. mine has just done this as well, what was it and how did you solve it, ta
  7. you need to check to see if there is 12 volts on the large wire going to the alternator, if it isnt there then there is a break between the batery and the alternator. this is with the ign off as well
  8. another update:- she runs at last, turns out all fuel leaked out of diesel pump, i took off return pipe, pushed a plastic clear tube on and sucked like a pro till i got fuel through, and away she went, still cant figure this vag com out though, none of the functions seem to work like on the site, i got vw tool as well that works but is still confusing now all i need is the pipe from air sensor to turbo which i broke and i back on the road
  9. another point, you cant check any timing or stuff if the engine wont start

  11. i got vag com i got vw tool as well, i got a galaxy that wont start after an engine top end rebuild hhhheeeeellllpppp
  12. panic over engine rebuilt, done almost everything but it wont start go fuel got compression double checked timing but she is not even trying
  13. they are right i'm afraid. had the same thing on an espace, on a diesel engine the pressure in the cylinders is so high if the gasket fails then the gas is forced into the water jacket. high pressure in the cooling system is a dead givaway, pushes all the water out of the overflow
  14. another update, putting it together, head bolts 40 n/m 60 n/m done angle tightened 90 degree's . the instructions say another 90 degrees needed but they are tight i dont know if even i have the strength to do another 90 degrees, i am not sleight by any means, also if they break i in the do do
  15. i agree, i do most work on the car cos i cant afford garage bills, plus i have an inbuilt mistrust of these having been ripped off once or twice, and had tol put botch jobs right again. i do consider myself at the very least, competent, with a spanner. but the galaxy is a new experiance for me, and i sought help here when my cam belt tentioner went, but the advice i got was a bit vague and i still havnt put it all back together yet lol.
  16. which ecu would i need to get an improvement, i have an afn engine
  17. also ant one got an air intake pipe for sale. bought one off ebay but its the wrong one

  20. maybe but there is no hole in the pulley for a pin just 4 big holes
  21. heres one for ya . i cant find any pictures of my pump pulley on here or the internet, suppose for a moment the marks someone has made on the pulley and the back plate are wrong, so how do i time up the injector pump, my pulley looks different to the one in all pics i can find, i can do the crank, i can do the cam but the injector pump i a complete mystery, any one got any photos of this it may help

  23. also i broke a couple of plastic pipes. the one to the turbo from air filter, the one to the rad from the head and a breather from the engine at the front, any ideas where to get them from
  24. well heres an update, 3 weeks it took me to get the head off, and spanner rash all over me poor ands, and i cant see any valves bent or displaced, how do i know which ones to replace, these cars are not the easiest thing to work on, now when i can find the time to put it all back together, what points could same me some time later on and what do i do with a vag com
  25. i got that too, where is the sensor located
