yes sorry my fault i forgot this was a mk1 & 2 section of the forum, i was just thinking mk2 and i know there are no dump valves as such but you can here a faint similar noise cant you, im just describing the noise as a dump valve although its very quiet on diesels, im just thinking that could be where the noise is coming from, either that or the dual mass in my opinion. someone please tell me im not mad and in imagining noises now..

i thought the 90 bhp was a pd engine? we learn something everyday my golf was a pd 115 engine, that used to do it.... i know the amount of boost is controlled by the variably vanes, but cant see how the vanes have anything to do with the noise it makes when you take your foot off the gas suddenly while boosting

i buy them damaged/broken fix em up up, use them for a bit then flog em on ive just sold my jato 2.5r, i have a tamiya tnx 5.2r in my shed but the crankshaft snapped, so hunting for an engine for that, ive had loads of diff trucks, but not done much with rc's since Christmas to be honest money is a little tight at the mo... i got my son a lrp blast 2.4ghz for Christmas , im thinking of upgrading his motor and esc soon

just wanted to get my mk2 tdi plugged in see what it comes up with i know another vw forum member who does it for a small fee but he is always busy pm would be great thankyou

think my noise could be the release bearing as i can only hear it when i change gear and not when i let off the gas and its louder when cold ... but then when i turn the car off i get a similar kind of noise, not sure what that is or whether there related edit: as for the dump valves, there must be something for the excess pressure to be released when the turbo is boosting, i used to hear a faint noise on my golf tdi when you were boosting then suddenly take your foot off the gas, the only way i could describe the noise is a very light dump value kind of noise, ive heard it on most turbo diesels...

im sure i have the same dry noise, sort of like a release bearing noise, i noticed it when i change gear more when the car is cold, the same noise you describe. i think its the excess pressure from the turbo being released but im sure it shouldn't sound like it does i had a golf before same engine (sort of) and that sounded smooth like a quiet dump valve hope someone can shed some light...

Will give it a try , thanks. so why is it a coincidence that i do laser cutting, fly rc and have a MK2 gal?? i do the same but rc's stay on the ground for me...

im only in notts if your passing anytime soon i could show you i just pointed my remote at the screen changed it to aux and plugged in a dvd in the aux and pressed play i just used one of the kids portable dvd players with the screen and used the cable that came with it and plugged it into the centre console let me know if your still struggeling edit: just noticed you do laser cutting, into rc and have a mk2 gal what a coincidence

thanks again, i will keep searching... going back to the first question, so if i wanted to watch 2 diff things at this min in time, it would be a choice vhs or dvd and the only way to watch 2 dvds is to get a ford dvd player and aftermarket in the aux? have i got that right thanks again for the advice most appreciated

hi all, just bought a mk2 gal tdi ghia it has a vhs player in the boot and the 2 head rest screens what are my options to put a dvd player in there? i think the ford factory dvd player maybe too expensive although im not 100% sure of the price, am i better off getting a stand alone dvd player and connect it to the screens and will it have to connect behind the handbrake or can it be plugged in via vhs player? also i read somewhere you can watch diff films on each screen, can anyone briefly describe how thats done any advice / tips appreciated thanks in advance
