Couldn't move the pump pulley with the belt off but I'm not really interested in what's what, I just need to get the car mobile and that's by using a shorter belt to bypass the pump altogether. Any repair cost comes out of my pocket so I'm going for the cheapest and easiest option!

As the title states, the aircon pump on my daughter's 2000 W reg 2.3 Galaxy has seized solid and I need to get the heap mobile asap. I intend to remove the aircn pump altogether for the time being. Can anyone please tell me which auxullary I need to ask for? Not sure if there are any 2.3's without factory fit aircon so any help would be appreciated.

Ford Galaxy Breaking, 1999 2.3 Ghia, Mk1, Manual
mikeshe replied to Heggie's topic in Cars and auto related items.
Hi Heggie, My daughter is after a decent gear knob, hers is all frayed. Have you still got this, if so how much? What colour is the interior, if dark blue she also wants the front door handle surrounds? Cheers, Mike -
Thanks Mirez, I'll get her to check the others.

My daughter has a Mk1 2.3 Galaxy. On on her dash she has the car diagram where two lights come on at the rear of the car, these then go out when she presses the brake pedal. She doesn't have a handbook so thought this signified that the brake lights were okay. Now though when she presses the brake pedal the nearside light on the dash stays on. All lights on the actual vehicle are working okay, so can anyone enlighten me what these dash lights are actually for and what it means if one stays alight?

Testing The Coil Pack
mikeshe replied to mikeshe's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks mate, all sorted now. Previous owner bought a cheap unbranded coil with a date on it of 17/10/09 so it hasn't lasted two years. Just ordered two Bosch ones and new leads. -
Had a Lambda Sensor fault code and really rough tickover, emissions were stinking. Fitted a new sensor and now have no fault codes but have a misfire at all speeds. I suspect a coil pack as it feels like it's more than one cylinder misfiring. What is the best and easiest way to check the coil pack before I start spending too much money? Thanks

Mike, I had exactly the same problem on my daughters car last week. Remove relay 30 and make a short wire up with spade connectors on each end and bridge terminals 30 & 87 on the fuse box. After removing the relay look at where it came from and you will see a horizontal slot at the 3 o'clock position and another horizontal slot at the 6 o'clock position, this is where you want to put the wire you make up. If your car now starts change the relay. Mike.

Daughters Mk1 Galaxy, W Reg, packed up yesterday afternoon after all the local Ford dealers had closed. She got Green Flag out and they dropped her car off at our house....... well what are Dad's for!! I removed relay 30 and made up a wire with spade connectors on the ends and bridged terminals 30 & 87. The car started up straight away so that confirms the relay has had it. Now more than likely Ford's won't have one in stock and will have to order it in. In the meantime would it be safe to use the car with the wire in instead of a relay? This would just be a temporary measure until the relay is fitted. Does anyone know the Ford part number of this relay? Thanks.

Engaging Cruise Control
mikeshe replied to mikeshe's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I've had a look behind the N/S Indicator and found a split pipe. I thought "Great, that's sorted that problem!" I cut off the split section and gave the car a run.......... still not working :18: Obviously not the only thing wrong with the CC, is there an specific order by process of elimination to check to rectify. I assume the split pipe is the most common fault, where to next? Thanks. PS. Also the O/S screen wash jet isn't working. Tried clearing with a pin but that didn't work. Made sure water is fed to the jet okay, no problem there. Haynes manual says to prise up one end of the jet to remove. How do you remove the jet without scratching the bonnet? -

Engaging Cruise Control

It's a 2000 W reg, Ghia, with a 2.3 petrol. -
My daughter recently bought a Galaxy which we think has cc fitted. It has "Off & On", "Set" & "Resume" on one of the stalks. She has tried getting it to work but so far has been unable to. She has gone down the road at 50mph with the on switch selected and pressed "Set" thinking that the cc would be engaged and it's not. Is there a specific procedure to engage cc? If what she has done so far has been correct then we can assume the cc isn't working, what should we be checking to get it working? Thanks.
