I've just bought a mk3 2.0 TDCi Ghia (2008) and I'm really pleased with it. It's an excellent design both internally and externally and the engine is superb - 45mpg average with 6 large adults (not driving particularly carefully). Mine doesn't seem to have any reliability issues. Having had Audi's up to now I don't think that they have any less problems - but the dealer is generally good when it comes to fixing them. The mk2 was a great design in its day - I remember it coming out but it does now looks old fashioned - I can't believe VW still sell them (not for long though!). The new Galaxy is the only sensible choice if you're looking for a large mpv (imho) which carries upto 7 (which, btw, the S Max does not do comfortably - as great as it looks).
