2. Hi had same problem with mine but just before i had refilled the reservoir after flushing the system.I manually pump the system by squeezing one the water pipes to flush out any air and push the water thru the system, then topped up the reservoir again. This worked for me. Hope this helps Rosie
3. Hi everyone. sorry to raise the old problem of power loss, but l have solved my problem, which has lasted for six months to date.I went to Halfords and bought a aerosol can of Turbo Cleaner(there were a few brands on the shelf).Anyway l sprayed the cleaner in to the turbo via the air inlet pipe as recomended, with the engine running. The spray is suppose to clean gum and muck etc that has built up over the years and can cause the fans, wastegate valves etc to stick.Since l have done this l have had no further problem with Intermittent power loss, and believe me l had real aggravation with it for over a year.I changed all the vacuum pipes, accelrator pedal sensor, turbo control valves X2 all to no avail.Spray Turbo cleaner at
4. Can anyone tell me if my 1999 tdi Gal has a wastegate with the turbo or varible vanes.I have had a look thru this forum but have had conflicting results. Many Thx Rosie
5. Just a word of warning.I have a 99 Tdi Gal,and whilst replacing the vacuum pipes on the old girl,( Due to intermittent power loss )l also noticed that the fuel line to the far right hand side injector had also perished and was weeping fuel, although in a minute amount, but nevertheless was leaking.Replaced this as well with no further leaks. Worth checking before the summer hols arrive and those long journeys. Apart from the intermittent power loss problem which l hope is now cured,no other problems.90,000 miles and still going strong. PS Has anybody had the clutch go yet,if so at what mileage and at what price ?
6. Count me in also.Simple ideas are always the best ones.
7. If it helps,my Gal 99 Tdi,had rear wash problems and the hose goes from the engine bay under the front passenger carpet along the running board thru to the back. There is a connection in the front passenger area under the carpet that came adrift on mine, which caused the floorpan to be soaked but not noticeable until i lifted the carpet.Best of luck
8. As seat kid says,Vacuum leak, mine was just a worn hose under the bonnet that after years of vibration just wore away against the fuel filter housing.Replaced twelve inches of vacuum hose (cost 60p ) and voila, back to normal. My local Fraud dealer wanted
9. Check all the vacuum hoses,as a split or hole no matter how small will affect the ECU and put the vehicle into limp home mode. This was the problem with mine and many others on this forum.
10. Thanks.I can sleep easily now at night.
11. Hi everyone Silly question but does anyone know what my mileometer will read when it trips past 99999 miles as it,s getting close to that now. Will it go onto 100,000 or just zero out. Sad I know but it,s intriguing me. Ta
12. Hi You probalbly have a split vacuum pipe somewhere.I did on the pipe going from the intercooler to the ecu.I just snipped out the split section and replaced it with new pipe (
13. Hi.I recently purchased two MAF,s from Fraud and both were defective.Third time lucky and the car is fine.I think that all fraud do is recomdition them and put them in a new box and sell them as new. Best of luck Rosie.
14. Ihave a 1999 Galaxy tdi 110,with intermittent power loss.As per other replies that have been posted l checked all the vacuum pipes.Lo and behold i find that a vacuum pipe coming from the turbo boost thingy that should of been connected the the air box thingy had come adrift.I fitted a new air filter 2 months ago, and this is when the fault started to occur.I put the pipes back onto the air box and so far no problems. Could it really be that simple ? Answers on a post card please !
15. I also have the same problem on exactly the same type of Galaxy. As per other replies l checked all the vacuum pipes and found that the vacuum pipe that leaves the turbo boost thingy should be connected to the air box ,but had come adrift. This was probably my fault as l replaced the airfilter 2 months ago, spookily when the fault developed.Since l reconnected the pipe l have had no problems. Hope this helps
16. Hi Took my gal in for a service at Bramalls in bexley early this year(JAN/FEB 05).Took the vehicle home (journey of about 2 miles) and left it on the drive overnight ,only to return in the morning and find 4 plus litres of engine oil spread all over the drive.Upon my own examination ,the oil filter had not been put on properly.Repaired it myself, but spoke to Managing Director,no arguments.Total refund, full service carried out again, and offer of professional services to clean drive.Though I got the right response, this is not my first experience of shabby service from this dealership.I now do my own servicing and have found an independent RELIABLE garage nearby. Rosie. P.S. 85,000 plus on the clock and going extremely well.Has got better since doing long trips on French Motorways.
17. Hi Can someone explain to a novice like myself what PD engine is please ! Rosie
