cheers guys, the gala wire is the speed sensor wire, ????? is this sourced from the abs speed sensors or from the back of the speedo. ive seen a few mfd's with d, dx or g prefixes relating to different specs of the sat navs, whats the difference between them? cheers

hi all. does anybody know if the vw mfd sat nav system will work in a galaxy - it seems to look a lot better than the ford 9000 vnr - bigger colour screen for starters. comments welcome.

hi all, just been looking on ebay for air con compressor for galaxy 1.9tdi. 2001 115. i seem to notice that quite a few listed give several model numbers. most of them have the green or blue sticker with the sd v716 and then a series of numbers 1jo 830 802 etc, etc. my question is that do any of you guys know of which part numbers are actually cross compatible betweem the 'shalaxbra' 3some. vw have a dozen or so varants frauds have half a dozen not sure about seat frauds were very unhelful, and were only intetrested in selling a brand new comp. for

hi can someone sort this argument out. i have 1.9tdi 2001 6 speed gal ghia, my mate has the 2002 version. he reckons the optimum speed to cruise for max mpg, is at just under 60 mph (approx 1700 revs) in sixth gear, as the turbo doesnt kick in fully. i am of the understanding that the max torue for the 1.9tdi is at approx 1950 revs , in which case my speed at that is just under 70mph. with the turbo working busily away. we were going to do simultaneous and identicle journeys down the m6, but his trip computer isnt working , so we cant settle it that way.!!! what happened to the industry standard optimum of 56 mph for best economy - what was that all about! many thanx................... ashy

hi, just realised why my aircon wont work on my 1.9tdi 2001 gal.- no clutch plate.!!!!. i managed to get hold of 2 , but they wont fit. one has a 'splined' centre hole, the other has a 'woodruff key' type fitting'. the shaft to which these connect to on my 1.9tdi has neither spline or woodruff, it seems to be a 'tapered ' sort of fit. how many varieties are there, and can someone with a 2001 gal 1.9tdi confirm that it is a 'tapered' fit, and not that my splines have been worn smooth in the past, perhaps explains why there was no clutch plate on the comprssor in the first instance. many thanx........ ashy ps. anyone know of the part number for this item? pps anyone know where i can get one apart from frauds. hi, i have a galaxy 1.9tdi ghia 2001. sometimes after i turn the engine off i can hear (for quite a while at times) a fan or motor running at the front of the car. then when it is about to stop i can often hear a clunk as though som esort of lid or flap has closed. any one got any ideas. thanx.

i notice that some of the newer 2000 onwards alhamra and sharan have been fitted with a 6 clock dash. they have a small oil temp/pressure type gauge and a volt/ammeter at the bottom left and right cormers of the speedo clocks, with the usual 2 (fuel and water temp) clocks at the centre top. and the larger speedo and rev counter in the centre. has any one seen these in a galaxy, will these fit into a galaxy , are the electrical connector plugs similar. or will some wiring have to be modified. or does anyone know of someone wo can do such work. ie, auto electrician any info recieved with gratitude regards....... ashy

hi all. has anyone got sat nav (standard equpment) installed. does the multimedia interface operate the dvd changer and the radio too. does anyone know if it can be installed instead of the cd5000 6cd unit without having to change the wiring loom, . i have a y 2001 tdi ghia with the six cd unit and 5000 headset , but would like to replacewith sat nav/multimedis system. ps. is the sat nav software upgradable , and where can i get one apart from the main fraud dealers. many thanx............... ashy pps. thanx to all who helped with the remote locking headache.

hi, many thanx to you all for your help. keyfob now sorted and working 100%. strangely enough i had to turn the door lock clockwise , and not counter clockwise -as suggested in the handbook, for the processs to start. now for my next headache - try to get the compresssor clutch to engage, when the climate control aircon is switched on. its got plenty of gas in it , and gets a live feed when aircon is switched on - any suggestions guys - maybe tap it with a hammer - ala sticking starter motors?

hi, has anyone of you guys had problems with programming a new remote keyfob. i have managed to 'code' the key , but cant seem to programme the keyfob. i have the owners manual and followed the instructions, but had no joy. is there some thing that the handbook doesnt mention? any suggestions ? many thanx in advance.
