hi , yes i have tried it with engine running, and with the ignition on (only too ). it doest wanna talk in auto scan mode, or in individiual mode. does the heater have to be running for it to talk? i,m sure i cleared a flameout code last year???? do you think a registede version of vag com would be successful. many thanx,,,,,,,,,,,, ashy

hi , any one know why my vag com 3.11 with the shareware software wont talk to my aux heater. i know it only talks to a handful of modules, but i am sure it used to communicate with the heater module a couple of years earlier when i cleared some dtc codes, checked various other things etc. the heater wont boot up i now , i just wanna check the codes before i dismantle and replace the glow plug , if it is that. many thanx.............. ashy galaxy tdi ghia 2001 black

would anyone have objected had the advert read .'ford galaxy, better than alhamra, more prestigious etc etc.' i was under the impression the hierarchy was alhambra at the bottom, gal in the middle and the shazs at the top could say it was like me thinkin my ford escort mk4 was better than its contemporary rival vw golf. :(

and how many japanese people do you know in person, bet you could count them on your left hand, with a finger or two spare. ps . i also asume that you do not own a sony playstation , dont wear nike, and none of your electrical equipment has japanese electronics in them, tv, video , hifi, ps2, any of the decent digital media etc etc. i bet the pc you use is half japanese (compnent wise) suffice to say that we kind of hunt rabbits and foxes with hounds , watch them ripped to bits, and call it 'sport', at least the japanese eat their kill , and not use it as a trophy. pps, bigkev your not chinese by anychance?

hi, folks. cold patch seems to be settlin here in pendle. (east lancs.) ive noticed that my booster heater has been kicking in recently, as i can hear the jet engine whine. my understanding is that it should cut out if the outside temp rises to above 11 or so degress and if/when the coolant temp reaches 75 C . ive noticed that on a few occasions the booster heater has still been running when the coolant temp has reached 90 c. last week i drove home from manchester - approx 40 miles. and the heater was still whining merrily away - outside temp was 9 c , coolant temp 90 c. whats the chances of the coolant temp sensor being faulty, if so where abouts is it located. ps. if it is faulty am i getting faulty readings on the temp gauge. 90 c seems to be the normal operating temp. on long journeys. ps. why too does it take a couple of mins to kick in sometimes? many thanx.......... ashy galaxy 1.9 tdi ghia 2001 -

jist seen a gal with chrome roof rails, looks super. anyone got them, how much are we looking at for a pair, or would it be cheaper to have existin ones chrome plated. i thnk they will look sweet on my black tdi ghia

hi, thinking of swtching from 215 55 16,s to 215 60 16,s to compensate for really naff bumpy roads up here. the arches are large enough to accomodate, and i know that they need to be r/forced. any other members done same for a comfier ride, any other issues to bear in mind? cheers...........ashy ps can the idle speed be turned dowm with vag com, my gal 1.9 manual tdi ticks at around 950 rpm. is that normal? thx

hi nik thnx for the reply , no offence taken, but just hoping to keep the forum 'politically neutral' and herefore preserve its integrity, and belive me , as a member of the muslim community this is a politically charged isssue. its also made many interesting conversations around our dinner table too, some membersl of my family for , and others against the issue! i value free speech and the right to express oneself, but it has to be in a context. didnt want to see a free for all in the customising section, should make intersting reading in the debationg section though :D kind regrds....... ashy

time has come to change tyres, read a few of the posts re tyres need to be reinforced, my question is that do tyres that are marked with a high load rating ie. 97 or 99 v/h or xl etc. qualify as a reinforced tyre or does the tyre need to have the word 're-inforced' stamped on it. thanx once again......... ashy

have any forum members bought any of the new digital mods available for the tdi models. i have seen some for sale that you can turn off when you dont need the extra power and then turn them back on if needed..... do they work? i was toying with the idea of buying a second hand ecu and having that cloned with the data from my 2001 ghia tdi and then having it remapped. then i could switch over when ever the need arose , ie, long journeys, motorway driving etc. would it have to be an ecu out of a similar model gal? any other issues that i should be aware of? ive even seen advert for a 'ghost remap' that sits alongside the original one, and allows you to toggle between the stock data and the new ghost remap, any thoghts????? not sure which is best/most efficiant ??? many thanx in advance.......... ashy ps. any one know of the forum member whose avatar is a dancing purple hippo, i need to check with him/her if i can copy it for a screensaver for my pc, as my baby girl absolutely loves it!

hi, looking to upgrade wipers on my gal. it has the banana shaped wipers which in rainy/snowy weather leave a massive blind spot at the centre of the front a pillar. i have seen that a lot of the later mk2 gals have the aerotwin wipers . i recently purchased the arms and blades of a 2005 alhambra, fitted them , but they catch on the down stroke, i have tried to adjust the positions of te arms but no joy. i have also noticed that the section of the arm that bolts onto the wiper spindles is shaped slightly differnt to the ones on the gal. has anyone upgrded theirs. the wipers them selves are both 28" so the problem lies with the shape of the arms. will i have to change the fascia at the bottom of the windscreen too, as the new gals have a differnt more sleek looking one. i have also noticed that on later gals the diver side wiper sits below the passenger side one. one early 'banana ' models the driver wiper sits above the passenger side one, - any particular reasons! has anyone got a part number for these, and the fascia trim - or suggest any ways to fix. many thanx .... ashy ...... didn,t realise i was writing an essay!!!! l.o.l !!

hi, thanx for getting back to me , the c/c works intermittently. sometimes it will work when i switch it on, sometimes it wont switch on at all, what i have noticed is that when it is working, and i go over a bump, it knocks itself off, but often it comes back on when i click the switch on the stalk again - could it be a dodgy contact somwhere. the gal is a 2001 tdi 115 manual

hi, been reading quite a few posts on cruise control probs. finally assertained that my 2001 tdi has electronic c/c. can any of guys tell me what i need to check for on the brake pedal and on the clutch pedal, i have checked rear brake lights they are ok, do i need to see if the pedals send out poditive or negative current etc. i have a multimeter but i am not sure what to check for. has any tdi owner had a faulty stalk switch , or is it the control modules that are likely to be faulty. many thanx, in advance

hi all. thnx to all for the respone to me previous sat nav post. ive finally managed to get hold of a vnr 9000 sat nav. gone straight into the slot vacated by the 5000 rds head unit - using existing connectors. works great. unfortunately one of the kids has managed to pull off and lose the 'enter' button/disk thingy on the right hand side of the unit. rang frauds they didnt supply any spares and told me that i would have to buy a complete new unit. ive tried to email visteon (company who make the vnr 9000 but have no reply as yet. any one know of where i can get hold of this button, or of anyone who sells spares for the vnr 9000. i believe fraud also fit these units into the mondeo. regrds..... ashy. ps. anyone know how to enable tmc. ive been told that the map cd has to be enabled and that an extra ariel is also required. thnx.
