I was driving to work yesterday afternoon (I work shifts), closed all the windows and powered up the a/c. After a mile or two I noticed warm still coming through the vents and the air con light was on. I fiddled with buttons and dials , nothing. I gave up on it and nother mile or two further, suddenly , ice cold arctic polar air came gushing through???? I think it kicked in when I revved up the motor to get past a bus, have no clue what happened.

When ordering from the USA don't customs take their slice of the pie ?

It moves forward and backward too!!!! Ordering the Haynes manual- my Galaxy didnt come with instructions :(

1) Which is the early face-lift model? 2) I think I might take the money and get the side skirts and front spoiler from Ford- make her look a little prettier and worry about the sound later. dunno

Do the 6000 and 6000e (the one with the 6 cd changer in the head unit) fit ther Galaxy (old shape Gal)?

My first car ever was a 1972 1100cc Ford Escort, white 2 door babe magnet (yea-rite) She too had the bendix problem, sounded similar- and a regreasing of that end of the starter motor did the trick. Some things just dont change - but its nice to make sure anyhow- thanx Darren

Hi all My first post here. My 2.3 (98 model) does the same thing on start up, no matter if its a cold start or when warm. It makes a horrid shriek like whine for aproximately a second. Its not a belt slipping , it is definetly the starter motor- are your noises the same ? As for Darren , how long did it take you to remove, clean and replace your starter motor and has the noise stopped since you've done it?
